🌙 Doomscrolling Is Quietly Wrecking Your Calm 🌙
We’ve all been there — curled up on the couch or lying in bed, telling ourselves “just five more minutes” of scrolling. Before you know it, an hour (or two) has passed, your shoulders are tight, and your mind feels wired instead of rested!
The truth is, doomscrolling spikes cortisol and keeps your nervous system stuck in “alert mode.” It also has been linked to greater anxiety and depression - the constant pressure of comparing ourselves to what "everyone else is doing".
But here’s the good news — you can break the cycle with small shifts that feel nurturing instead of restrictive:
✨ 3 Ways to Break the Doomscrolling Habit:
Set a Digital Sunset — give yourself a cut-off time for screens - try 8 p.m. or at least one hour before bedtime - and trade the glow of your phone for candlelight or tea.
Create a Cozy Alternative — keep a journal, affirmation deck, or a good book by your chair or bed so your hands have something else to reach for. You know how I love a good cozy mystery - just the right amount of mystery before bed.
Pause with a Reset — when you catch yourself scrolling, put the phone down, take 5 deep breaths, and ground yourself with a warm blanket or cup of chamomile.
Your nervous system will thank you. 💛
