Losing a student, classmate or friend is difficult at any age and therapists say talking to your child about death is something that shouldn't wait.
Katelyn Mickelson, a psychologist at Sanford Health in Fargo, says if you notice your child being more clingy or more distant than usual, or if they have difficulty with anxiety and sleeping after being impacted by a death, the best way to talk about it is to be direct, immediate and to let them know that it's something they can be open about.
