Making brain surgery more relatable was our goal at the Cincinnati Museum Center's “Layers of the Unknown” event. Participants used a small drill to break through the shell of a hard-boiled egg. The soft interior symbolizes the brain’s vulnerable structures, and the challenge lies in drilling without damaging brain tissue. Thanks to Mayfield Education & Research Foundation team members Angel Augst, Sonia Lipp and Christy McGinnis for making this demonstration possible.
