The Clinic meets the need for high-quality legal services on behalf of people who cannot afford access to justice through our four programs, each centered on providing holistic legal assistance to a vulnerable population. Our programs include: The Re-Entry Justice Program, which helps individuals with criminal records rebuild their lives after incarceration; the Immigrant & Survivor Justice Progra
m, which works to help refugees, asylees, and other immigrants as they adjust to life in the United States and to ensure immediate safety and long-term well-being for survivors of domestic violence and s*xual assault; the Tax & Economic Justice Program, which advocates for individuals facing IRS tax controversies and alleviates undue tax burdens; and the Housing and Consumer Justice Program, which works to help clients who are facing eviction or habitability concerns, or struggling with legal issues caused by a lack of income. The Clinic does not discriminate in the delivery of services or benefits based on race, color, national origin, religion, s*x, disability, age, s*xual orientation, or gender identity.

On Friday, September 15, our office, in partnership with the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, will be providing free expungement services. This one-time event will take place at the Community Justice Campus from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. All are welcome, but this will be on a first come, first serve basis.

This year, our Housing & Consumer Justice Program has served nearly 500 individuals and families facing eviction or poor living conditions. Matthew Desmond's "Evicted" suggests, "it is hard to argue that housing is not a fundamental human need. Decent, affordable housing should be a basic right for everybody in this country. The reason is simple: without stable shelter, everything else falls apart."
At the Clinic, we are blessed to be able to help our neighbors stay in their homes through our legal services, but this is a community-wide effort. We rely on your support to meet the growing need.
