What is a blindspot and how can it create blocks for an individual?

Blindspots are areas in our lives and functioning that are out of our conscious awareness. I utilize the blind spot of the human eye as one of the metaphors for how we function with these limitations. Interestingly, our brain compensates for the hole in the visual field of our vision and "fills in" that portion for us, which makes it harder to become aware of it. These functional compensations and adaptations can influence our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and overall functioning, while over time, create patterns in our lives that don't serve us well, or can cause limitations in ways that we wouldn't choose if we were aware. Our unconscious shadow parts can also communicate with us, leading us towards new adaptations that can be coupled with our subcortical wisdom. New pathways of awareness and functioning can be developed and expanded.
