When your child enters kindergarten, they should already be able to correctly hold a
pencil or crayon and write their own name. You can practice these skills with them and help them learn to identify and sound out letters of the alphabet. If you have concerns about your child’s abilities, you can screen their development using the Ages & Stages Questionnaire, now available on the Sparkler: Play for Parenting app!

Every new skill your infant, toddler, or preschooler develops is worth acknowledging and celebrating! On the Sparkler: Play for Parenting app, you can upload photos of all your child’s new milestones and create a digital scrapbook to track and share their progress with family members, teachers, and pediatricians.

All children develop at their own pace, but predictable stages and skills help parents know what to expect and significantly enhance their ability to support their child’s growth and development. Identifying potential issues early on allows parents to seek timely intervention and support from healthcare and education professionals.

Anyone can and should refer a child to Early Intervention if they have concerns that a child is experiencing a possible delay or disability. There is no need to "wait and see."

Early Intervention professionals work with a child and their family in a child's natural environment to identify strengths and needs and address concerns as early as possible. Early support can reduce the need for services later in life.

Referrals may be made by contacting Wyandot County Early Intervention Service Coordinator April Gottfried.
📧Email: agottfried@co.wyandot.oh.us
📱Phone: 419-294-3852 ext. 231.
