Infants need at least 30 minutes of tummy time each day? Tummy time helps build a child’s head, neck, and upper body muscles, which will be needed to develop skills later on.

Encourage your toddlers to do physical activity by keeping it fun! Here are some ideas:
1. Use balls with different textures to practice catching and bouncing.
2. Make up games to incorporate different types of movement, like jumping over puddles or cracks, or chasing bubbles.
3. Invent silly walks or runs, like running like a monkey or jumping like a bunny.

Your child learns the most about healthy and active living from you, so include your whole family in regular physical activity and healthy eating. Here are some tips:
— Keep activities fun!
— Pick appropriate activities for your child’s age and development.
— Enroll your kids in sports and take them to the park to play.

Kids need 60+ minutes of activity every day, but it doesn’t have to happen all at once! Think about ways you can squeeze quick activity sessions into different parts of your child’s day.

— Lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels.
— Better outlook on life.

Kids under age 5 in Ohio are eligible to receive a free, age-appropriate book in the mail each month?

Visit ohioimaginationlibrary.org to enroll.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio mails kids one free book each month until his or her 5th birthday. Any child in Ohio between birth and age 5 is eligible for the program, which is available at no cost to families.

Today's Provider Spotlight is , providing both Help Me Grow Early Intervention and Home Visiting services! With Early Intervention, they connect families with services that help eligible children under age three with developmental delays or disabilities. Wyandot County Public Health offers the Parents as Teachers Home Visiting model to help local families navigate parenting, parenting, answer questions, and provide reliable information based on individual family needs. This model can serve families until their child is five years old!

On the Sparkler: Play for Parenting app, you can upload photos of all your child’s new milestones and create a digital scrapbook to track and share their progress with family members, teachers, and pediatricians.

Ohio’s Help Me Grow program has made the Sparkler: Play for Parenting app with the Ages & Stages Questionnaire available for free to families across Ohio. This is the same developmental screening tool that educators and pediatricians give parents to complete, except in a mobile format. Use Access code “OH” when signing up through the app.
