⚠️ Could you be one of the 16 million Americans predisposed to cancer? The majority of Americans predisposed are undiagnosed or unaware.

🧪 In a new study, the cancer patients' doctors reached out to family members to get tested (instead of having the already burdened cancer patient try to alert their family). This method of alerting at-risk people through cascade genetic testing could change the narrative of cancer prevention.

⚠️ Could you be one of the 16 million Americans predisposed to cancer?
👀 The majority of Americans predisposed to cancer are undiagnosed or unaware.
🧪 Currently, cancer patients are requested to tell their family members to get genetic testing for hereditary cancers. For various reasons, only 30% of people at risk get tested. In a new study, the cancer patients’ doctors reached out to family members for testing (instead of having the already burdened cancer patient try to alert their family).
👨‍⚕️ As Bradley Corr, MD, shared, the trial showed a large increase in the number of at-risk family members who get tested. But in the real world, these benefits would be even larger. This method of alerting at-risk people through cascade genetic testing could change the narrative of cancer prevention.
