๐Ÿ‘ Shoutโ€‘out to Orthopedic Surgeon Anthony Dโ€™Abarno, DO, and the SGMC Orthopedic Surgery Team!

Leading the way in advanced hip replacement care, Dr. Dโ€™Abarno and his surgical team are using IntelliJointยฎ HIP technology to bring greater precision and personalization to hip replacement surgeryโ€”right here in South Georgia.

This innovative, realโ€‘time technology provides immediate feedback during surgery, helping the team fineโ€‘tune hip placement based on each patientโ€™s unique anatomy. The result? More accurate alignment, improved balance and mobility, and fewer common concerns like leg length differences or instability after surgery.

Join us in congratulating certified clinical perfusionist Peter Lane as the latest recipient of the Safe Care Award! ๐Ÿ†๐ŸŽ‰

During a routine review ahead of heart surgery, Peter noticed information that didnโ€™t seem right. By speaking up, sharing evidence, and encouraging the care team to take a closer look, he helped prevent potential harm and ensured the safest possible outcome for the patient.

Moments like this reflect our commitment to patient safety: staying alert, asking questions, and working together to do whatโ€™s rightโ€”every patient, every time. Thank you, Peter, for your dedication to safe, highโ€‘quality care! ๐Ÿ‘

Today, our team celebrated National Donate Life Blue & Green Day by raising the Donate Life flag at 1:08 pm in honor of organ, eye, and tissue donors. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š The time serves as a reminder that one donor can save up to eight lives, giving hope to the more than 100,000 people currently waiting for a lifesaving transplant.

In recent years, through our partnership with LifeLink of Georgia, 22 patients and their families made the extraordinary decision to be organ donorsโ€”resulting in 62 successful organ transplants. Their generosity has saved lives and improved quality of life for countless others.

We honor these remarkable donors and their families whose selfless decisions continue to make a lasting difference.

Have you considered becoming a donor? Your decision could mean everything to someone waiting. Georgians can register as organ, eye, and tissue donors through the Donate Life Georgia registry, when renewing a driverโ€™s license, or locally through their MyChart patient portal.

Congratulations to Mercer University School of Medicine! ๐ŸŽ‰

MUSM is ranked by U.S. News and World Report among the 2026 Best Graduate Medical Schools, with national recognition for graduates serving in primary care, rural areas, and medically underserved communities. ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿฅผ

We are honored to work alongside MUSMโ€™s students, faculty, and graduates who help make a meaningful difference every day. Congratulations on this wellโ€‘deserved recognition! ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ‘

Happy Patient Access Services Week! ๐ŸŽ‰

This week, weโ€™re celebrating the teams who help patients navigate their care from the very first interaction. ๐Ÿ‘ From scheduling and registration to insurance verification and financial counseling, Patient Access professionals play a critical role in creating a smooth, compassionate experienceโ€”and setting the tone for quality care at SGMC Health.

Thank you for helping patients feel supported from the very beginning. ๐Ÿ’š

SGMC Health serves as a vital access point for emergency care across our community and the surrounding regionโ€”caring for 100,000+ patients each year, often in moments of great uncertainty. ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿฅ When minutes matter, our teams at Main, Smith, Berrien, and Lanier hospitals are ready around the clock to provide steady, compassionate, expert care.

One recent patient shared this about their experience:

โ€œOur care at the SGMC Health Main Emergency Room was truly exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the staff was attentive, compassionate, and incredibly professional. In a stressful situation, their calm presence and genuine compassion made all the difference. They took the time to explain everything and never made us feel rushed. We left feeling incredibly grateful for the care we received.โ€

That compassion is matched by growing regional trust. SGMC Health has become a leading referral center for trauma, cardiac, and stroke care, with 3,000+ ER patients coming from surrounding hospitals last year.

As the regionโ€™s only Level III Trauma Center, a Level I Emergency Cardiac Care Center, and a Primary Stroke Center, our teams are committed to delivering expert care when you need it most. ๐Ÿ’š

Happy Occupational Health Nurses Week! ๐Ÿฉบ๐ŸŽ‰

This week recognizes the nurses who protect, support, and champion the health of workforces.

At SGMC Health, that impact is felt in two important waysโ€”from our Employee Health nurses, who work behind the scenes to keep our teams safe, informed, and well, to our SGMC Occupational Medicine team, who partner with local businesses and industries to support employee health across our community.

Through prevention, education, and compassionate care, these nurses are a steady, trusted presence, helping people stay healthy at work and beyond. Thank you for the vital role you play every day. ๐Ÿ‘
