Good News! Our VA contract was accepted, and our inspection went well yesterday! We can now accept skilled nursing, long-term care, and respite-stay VA patients on our Skilled Nursing and Long-term care side! Just a reminder: Humana failed to re-credential us for Medicare, and we cannot take Humana.

Pioneer Place's Monthly Board Meeting will be held on March 25th, 2024, at 3 p.m. in the Skilled Nursing classroom, not the 18th as previously scheduled.

There are a couple of Bills we need stopped from passing, HB-3838 and SB-1138. These bills, developed by SEIU, propose the creation of a Home and Community-Based Services Workforce Standards Board with broad authority to regulate wages, staffing schedules, and working conditions in all home and community-based care settings. This Bill bypasses democratic processes, will place a significant financial burden on Pioneer Place, disproportionately impacts nonprofit tax-exempt organizations, increases costs to consumers, etc. We need everyone to reach out to their legislators, specifically Senators Merkley and Wyden, because we need 2 democrats to sway this Bill from being passed. I am letting everyone know that Pioneer Place has a plan. If we have to evacuate, we have transfer agreements with Payette and Weiser Care facilities, Edgewood in Fruitland, and Willowcreek Elementary, which is the most likely place we would move our residents and patients so we could have everyone in one spot. We have emergency supplies, including medications, clothing, food, and water. We have agreements with Sprinter Shuttle, and with Vale School District to use their buses. We have our 3 vans also. We practice evacuation drills annually because of DHS requirements, and this helps us simulate what the processes and procedures are for transferring residents efficiently and effectively and although we never want to go through the actual event, I believe in our team and our community and that we will have the best outcomes possible if we do have to evacuate. So far everything is fine and we hope and pray that we don't have to evacuate!

We completed our annual survey on the Skilled Nursing and Rehab side with the State of Oregon! We are deficiency-free! No citations! Congratulations to all our DON, RCM, Nurse Supervisor, RNs, LPNs, CNAs, Dietary crew, and all other support staff for making this possible! We have the best team at Pioneer Place and in this day and age with the regulations and increased survey requirements, it goes to show how freaking amazing this team is! Great job everyone!
