Good news! Today is THE day! Many thanks to the amazing staff and medical team at all 3 AdventHealth locations for their prompt response and effective treatment plan in keeping Buzz protected and Matthew on the road to a full recovery from sepsis! We are so very thankful to them and to all for their thoughts and prayers during this scary and difficult time. We’re so very grateful! 💙💚

So, here we are again, but this time, Matthew is in a different hospital. What people with normal immune systems can fight off, someone like Matthew who is immunocompromised, have a much harder time time, often leading to serious consequences. The culprit was a bacteria that settled in his gut, resulting in a quick set on of dehydration with a 104.5 fever, leading him from urgent care to the ER to being admitted.

Good news is that after thorough testing, his care team of a hospitalist, nephrology, and infectious disease, they have determined the root cause and Matthew seems to be responding to their treatment plan. Each day, he’s showing improvement and thank goodness Buzz has remained stable and his kidney functioning is improving each day!!! Needless to say, we were very scared from the start, not knowing what was happening and why, but also how it could potentially harm his new kidney. Buzz is stronger and more resilient than we knew, and we give God all the glory for keeping him protected and for Matthew’s improving health each day. 🙌🏻 We’re hopeful that he will be discharged in the next day or two. 💙💚
