Gut health, gut health, gut health!
We hear it all the time, but that’s usually because someone is selling us a supplement.
The truth is that the number 1 predictor of “good gut health” is a diverse microbiome. In other words, you need an abundance of good bacteria in your gut.
But here’s the part that no one ever tells you: you don’t develop that with supplements. You cultivate it with fiber. Gut microbes feed on fiber and resistant starch, and that process creates short chain fatty acids which play key roles in things like:
✅ Regulating inflammation
✅ Blood sugar regulation
✅ Mood
✅ Anxiety
✅ Sleep
✅ Immunity
✅ Hormones
✅ Skin health
And so much more!
Here’s the sobering truth: national intake data suggests that only 5% of Americans get enough. So chances are that your microbes are starving and you are suffering for it.
I’m holding a free webinar on February 11th to do a deep dive into this topic. Comment “microbes” and I will send you the link!
In the meantime, eat more plants to get that fiber! 🌱
