The Substance Awareness Center of I.R.C. We focus on Prevention Works and Recovery Works! General board meetings are held monthly and are open to the public.

We protect and empower our community by providing resources, prevention strategies and recovery services that address substance misuse and behavioral health, promoting long-term wellness. was founded in 1989 as a resource for information and referral, and has expanded the services offered as the community need has increased. We deliver evidence based substance abuse prevention programs to adolescents with a focus on skill building which is a key to effective prevention. SAC also offers treatment programming and recovery support services for adults with substance use disorders. SAC receives funding from grants, foundations and donations, and operates under the direction of a volunteer board of directors.

💙 Saving Lives, Together in Indian River County 💙

We are grateful to several local businesses and agencies across Indian River County that have partnered with us to install Narcan boxes at their facilities. These boxes provide free, lifesaving Narcan to anyone who may need it.

Narcan is easy to use and can reverse an opioid overdose, giving someone a second chance at life. By making it more accessible in our community, these partners are helping reduce stigma and increase safety for everyone.

We now have 14 locations in Vero Beach and 2 in Sebastian that included:

Unity Spiritual Church, Vero Beach Christian Church, EZ Mart, Snappy's, Sunoco (route 60), Howard Johnsons, Red Roof Inn, Pur Health and Wellness, Newport Club, Brackett Library, Vero Beach Main Library, UP Center, Inkworx, IRS College, Sebastian Library and Cafe Latte da in Sebastian.

If you or someone you know may need Narcan, please take it. Carrying Narcan saves lives—and you never know when it could make a difference.
