DOVE Transplant - Living Kidney Donation for Veterans

DOVE Transplant - Living Kidney Donation for Veterans DOVE's mission is to find, educate, support and match living kidney donors to Veterans in need. DOVE stands for Donor Outreach for Veterans.

DOVE believes in the power of community engagement to help remedy the kidney donor shortage for all. We are a nonprofit organization that serves as a "matchmaker" - raising awareness about Veterans who are waiting for a lifesaving kidney donor and connecting them with potential donors (friends, family, anonymous) who want to help. Once donors contact us, we provide them education and support throughout the evaluation and surgery to enhance their experience and ensure any expense is fully covered. Many of our donors, Veteran recipients remain connected with our growing community and stay on as volunteer mentors, advocates to continue raising awareness about lifesaving organ donation. DOVE is based in NJ however we serve Veterans throughout the US.

Living donors restore someone’s health, give a family back hope for the future, embody true love and kindness. Thank you Jesse for using your platform to share your story this will save many lives. Thank you all we love you!

Oscar-nominated actor Jesse Eisenberg announced on the TODAY Show that he will donate a kidney to a stranger this December in an act known as an altruistic or non-directed donation.
“I got bitten by the blood donation bug,” he said. “It’s essentially risk-free and so needed. It’s a no-brainer.”
Eisenberg began the process through NYU Langone Health and says his family will be protected under the National Kidney Foundation’s voucher program, which prioritizes loved ones should they ever need a transplant.
More than 90,000 Americans are waiting for a kidney transplant. Living donors like Eisenberg are helping bridge the gap—one life-saving gift at a time.

Hugh McDonald had a huge team helping in his living donor search. Literally a huge team - the Seattle Seahawks
where his son Mike serves as Head Coach. Hugh's family, friends, church communities all rallied to raise awareness about They all searched on behalf of Hugh AND the several hundred other Veteran's registered on DOVE's list.

Samantha Harris, an RN who is a member of the same Church congregation as Hugh and his wife, was one of many who contacted DOVE to start the donor process.

After extensive testing Samantha was medically cleared and was a perfect candidate for direct donation. The surgery took place last Friday.

We are thrilled to report both Hugh and Samantha are recovering well.

Like so many, it was hard for Hugh to ask for help and to allow someone else to undergo donation surgery. He is thrilled that other prospective donors who came forward for him, may now be able to help another Veteran. "the Hugh Ripple"

We want to thank Samantha, her husband, who has been her caregiver and supporter, for giving the to Hugh and his family. Thank you to the who do more behind the scenes than anyone can imagine to perform lifesaving transplants.

is the greatest act of love.

Thank you to the Seahawks for shining a light on organ donation. There are countless lives that will be changed because of your campaign for Hugh and DOVE.

Congratulations to Team 68! Diana, is a 100% service connected Veteran who works as a social work supervisor. She was determined to help a fellow Veteran in need. She traveled across North Carolina to be paired with a Navy Veteran, Michael, who she has not yet met. Diana has let us know she is feeling good and excited to hear how Michael is doing. They hope to meet soon.
Best wishes for both Michael and Diana as they recover. We are so grateful to Diana and all lifesaving organ donors for this great act of love and kindness.
Thank you to the caregivers, the and all the providers that work hard to save lives everyday
