The most important factor in how your baby’s birth will unfold?
Your feelings about SAFETY.
Our emotions are a response to our thoughts and our thoughts manifest in our body.
So what does this mean?
Hormones control labor.
Feelings control hormones.
😊If you feel SAFE & CONFIDENT in your birthing space, this will help accelerate your labor.
😖If you feel FEAR in your birthing space, it will slow, stop, and could even complicate your labor.
What can you do to feel SAFE in your birthing space?
If you are birthing in a hospital:
🏥 Go visit the hospital. Tour Labor & Delivery, meet the nurses on staff. You will familiarize yourself with your birthing space and it will also help you understand the logistics of getting to the hospital when you are in labor.
💭 Think about your birth - A LOT. Write down your birth intentions. Talk about them with your partner, your provider, doula, sister, friend, anyone who will be in your birthing space. Also share them with the nurses when you get to the hospital.
👩⚕️ Before labor, talk with your provider at length about your birth wishes, anxieties, fears, and concerns. Make sure you feel comfortable and confident that your provider is on board in supporting your birth wishes. If they aren’t, see if you can change providers.
💛Hire a doula. A doula can support you during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. They will provide you with education, help you advocate for yourelf in the hospital, support your partner, and ease the transition to motherhood.
