Victoria in Excelsis!!

Three cheers for the Children's Discovery Museum of the Golden Crescent! We designed the first phase of this Victoria, Texas museum's complete renovation which launched last month. Happy to report a steady wave of children and families through the gates ever since. We’re so happy to welcome Astrid Lewis Reedy (Graphic Designer) and Toni Pizza (Project Assistant) to Argyle HQ. In addition to creating great exhibits in the past few months, we successfully carved our Halloween pumpkins together, so we know every little thing’s gonna be all right.

We've logged a lot of time down in our workshop, prototyping (building and testing) our exhibit and activity designs. Just a few examples: experimenting with light; DIY circuits; a "soundstrument"; designing a custom car.

ARGYLE ADVENT DAY FOUR: Up North, Down the Mine.
We got to know the wide open spaces of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan while working on the Children’s Discovery Museum on the Saskatchewan. But we’d only scratched the surface until June 8, when we ventured ONE MILE UNDERGROUND at PotashCorp’s Lanigan mine for a tour (part of our extensive research toward creating a wonderful mine experience for kids at the CDM). Cheryl says it was the second most amazing experience of her life. Here she is, third from right, with Rick, Sheryl Mae and Michael on the left.

MY TOWN Is Our Town. Just opened on November 19 at the Clay Center: My Town, a role-playing, game-playing, interconnected place for kids age 3-10. My Town has a park, a theater, a fire engine, a diner, a vet and a clinic! We’d move to My Town tomorrow, but who would feed the cat?

Finding Your Way at the Clay: Back east in West Virginia, the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences in Charleston is bursting with new galleries, exhibits and spaces, starting this fall. We designed the Center’s way-finding system.

WHAT A YEAR!
We’ve been so busy creating, designing and building (and talking and traveling) that we’ve had zero time for sharing our work here. This week we’re making up for that with Argyle Advent Days, a little parade of the year’s highlights.

ARGYLE ADVENT DAY ONE:
Fort Bend CDC Opens! The long awaited, long-in-the planning Children’s Discovery Center of Fort Bend, Texas, a satellite of Children’s Museum of Houston, opened with a flourish in late May, 2016. Some exhibits are right-sized versions of CHM’s. Below: Argyle-designed Entry; Kidtropolis 2; Precision auto repair.

We are excited that our latest design at the Ft. Bend Children's Discovery Center is set to open to the community in Sugarland, TX and beyond, next weekend!

The museum reflects Fort Bend County with local businesses throughout Kidtropolis, like Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land and Another Time Soda Fountain and Cafe.
