Mojave Watershed

Mojave Watershed Welcome to the Mojave River Watershed Group! What is MRWG? What is stormwater pollution? Why is stormwater education so important to High Desert residents?

MRWG is an organization dedicated to educating the High Desert community (the City of Hesperia, the City of Victorville, the Town of Apple Valley and other unincorporated areas of the County of San Bernardino) about stormwater pollution prevention. Stormwater pollution, resulting from urban runoff, is a serious issue and is the single biggest environmental threat to the quality of our rivers, lake

s and other local waterways. It can have a detrimental effect on public health and harm the well-being of local wildlife. Stormwater pollution is unique in the High Desert due to its geographic make-up. Our watershed flows directly to the Mojave aqueduct which is the direct source of our drinking water. Protecting this precious resource for yourself and your family is vital to our High Desert community. The good news? Stormwater pollution is preventable. Through simple measures, we can reduce stormwater pollution and keep our communities clean. It is up to us to preserve the essence of the Mojave Desert. Learn more about us and how you can get involved at www.mojaveriver.org.

Last Friday was one for the books! 📚✨ We had the honor of hosting “Story Time with Sonny the Stormwater Trooper” at the Apple Valley Newton T. Bass Branch Library.

Families joined us for a reading of “The Week Sonny Met a Stormwater Trooper”, along with an interactive Enviroscape video and live demonstration that helped bring stormwater pollution education to life.

We were also joined by our amazing Stormwater Ambassadors from who made the experience even more engaging and hands-on for the families. Kids also took home activity sheets and goodie bags packed with pollution prevention goodies. 💙
Huge thank you to everyone who came out and made the day such a success!

What really happens when it rains in the High Desert…or when you turn on a hose? 💧
That water becomes runoff, carrying everything in its path straight into the Mojave River Watershed. Watch this clip from our Enviroscape video to see how it all connects - and why it matters.
