Luke first came to his parents one afternoon complaining of a bump on his head. This bump was different from any he had suffered in the past in that it was not brought on by "blunt force." This bump was a lump and it literally grew out of nowhere, and continued to grow. Doctors identified it as an ordinary cyst and scheduled a routine surgery on Dec. 2nd. Soon after the surgery, Luke and his family were delivered the tough news that, while the tumor had been removed, it was indeed cancerous and Luke would have to undergo a battery of medical tests and a full course of Chemotherapy. Luke handled the news with his usual sense of humor. The kind of humor he always displays in the face of a challenge. But cancer is like no other challenge for it effects not only the Cancer patient but his whole family. This FaceBook blog will touch on the family story, but recognizing that each family member is the hero of their own journey, the hero of "Rock The Gold" is Luke.
