Holland Fire Dept would like to take a moment to brag on one of our newer members.

Elijah Ballard has joined our Department within the last couple of years and he has hit the ground running ever since joining Holland Fire. He first enrolled in EMT school and after much stress, tests, clinicals, and a National Registry test, Elijah completed his schooling and obtained his NR-EMT License. This allows him to perform medical interventions within a BLS scope of practice. Which is the level of intervention needed to mitigate 95% of our calls.
Fast forward-
Currently, Elijah has enrolled with the Arkansas Fire Training Academy in Camden to go through all the strenuous and stressful training to obtain his Pro Board Certified Firefighter Levels 1 & 2.
This is another requirement that is necessary to being able to pursue career firefighting as a profession.
Elijah began rookie school at the beginning of January and is due to graduate in March.
Elijah is a valuable emergency resource to our community at Holland, along with all the members at the Holland Fire Department. We just wanted to take moment to say how proud we are of Elijah, and look forward to seeing what the future has in store for him!

A few pictures below of him at the academy!

The Maumelle Fire Department is deeply saddened to announce the death of Firefighter Caleb Sackhoff, who passed away while off duty on Thursday, January 22.

Firefighter Sackhoff joined the department in August 2024 and proudly served the community as a member of Engine Company 1 (B-Shift). Firefighter Sackhoff was a graduate of Firefighter Standards Class 2024-E at the Arkansas Fire Training Academy, where he earned the Academic Achievement Award. He was also a licensed Emergency Medical Technician.

"Firefighter Sackhoff was dependable and energetic," said Fire Chief Beau Buford. "This is a heartbreaking loss for our department and our community. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and with our members as they grieve the loss of one of their own."

Complete funeral arrangements will be announced as soon as they are available.

With snow and freezing temperatures expected, Holland Fire Department reminds residents to locate their home’s main water shut-off valve before winter weather arrives. Frozen or burst pipes can cause major damage, and knowing how to quickly shut off your water can prevent costly repairs.

Take a few minutes now to prepare—it can make a big difference during an emergency. Stay safe and stay warm this winter.

Earlier today, the Holland Fire Department, along with Enola, Liberty, and Beaverfork Fire Departments, responded to a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke pushing from the attic. A rapid interior attack was initiated to bring the fire under control.

A coordinated search effort by Beaverfork and Liberty Fire Departments successfully located and safely removed the homeowner’s dog. Thanks to the combined efforts and quick actions of all responding agencies, the fire was contained, further damage was minimized, and no injuries were reported.

If you haven’t done so already, it’s time to change your smoke detector batteries to new ones and test the alarms monthly!
