Here is your reminder that, in hospital births, the need for medical intervention goes up because doctors are not trained in natural techniques for repositioning or birthing. Birth is not a medical event.

Here’s the facts: OB’s are no longer trained on how to deliver breech in medical school.🤯
Not only are they untrained, most have never seen a vaginal breech birth, (let alone a physiological birth)! 👀
What we don’t understand, we fear.
This fear is passed down to mothers, who tell their friends and family, and within a generation or two, the cultural consensus on breech birth is that it is DANGEROUS. ⚠️
In the words of in Man On Fire, there are two kinds of people: Trained and Untrained.🥇
It’s so important to make sure your provider is TRAINED and COMFORTABLE with the wide range of “normal” that birth brings.
🚩If your doc risks out everyone to induction or cesarean at the first sign of a variation, your chances of a vaginal, unmedicated birth are slim to none.
Know Your Risks:
Are there risks to breech birth? Yes!
There are risks to ALL birth.
There are also risks to Cesarean. 🔪(particularly if you plan on having more children).
If your doctor says breech is dangerous, ask them what the actual risks are. Ask for numbers... Chances are, they won’t know. 🤷🏼♀️
It is not a question of which option is “safe” and which option is “dangerous”
It’s a question of which risks are right for YOU. ⚖️
For example, doctors say head entanglement is a big risk to breech birth because the head is bigger than the pelvis. 👶 But the head is NOT bigger than the butt, pelvis and legs combined, which come out together (the pelvis does’t come out without the legs!)
