More often than not, the mamas I see doing all the research and all the preparation to have an amazing birth are not first time moms. ⁣

They’re usually second time moms who had a bad first experience with birth. ⁣

Maybe they listened and agreed to every single thing their OB said and their birth didn’t end up playing out like they were told it would. ⁣

Maybe they had an idea of what they wanted the first time but were easily swayed at the first sign of pushback and then felt like they were just an observer to their own birth instead of an active participant. ⁣

I hear upsetting birth stories all the time. Stories where the mom felt bullied or dismissed by their care team. That breaks my heart, and you don’t have to go through that your first birth in order to know what you want for your second birth! ⁣

I’m now offering one on one calls to discuss your birth and answer any questions you have! DM me to book a call and let’s work out how you’re going to have a great birth, the first time ❤️

It’s truly this simple. Everything will go better and you will feel more confident if you decide by trusting your gut intuition.

Consult with your doctors, midwives, trusted family and friends, doula, do your research, but at the end of the day when it’s time to make a decision, what is your gut telling you?

When you start tuning into these feelings and you realize that you’re spot on, imagine how powerful that will make you feel!

You know your body and your baby better than anyone in this world. Use that with confidence to make the right choices for you both ❤️

Have you heard of the fear-tension-pain cycle?

When you are in labor and feel fear, your body tenses up.

Tension in the body tells the brain that you are not safe and it needs to continue tensing to protect itself.

When we are tense, any pain we are feeling is intensified.

That intensity of pain validates your fear of the pain, and the cycle continues.

Tension is the opposite of what we need to be feeling in order to release our baby down the birth canal and out into the world.

Birth is such a mental game. You have to prepare your breathing and mental coping strategies before birth so that you do not get caught in this fear-tension-pain cycle.

The best things to do to prevent this cycle:

🌊 Identify your fears before birth and work to release them
🌊 Practice breathing techniques
🌊 Practice relaxation strategies and set up your birth environment to facilitate this relaxed state
🌊 Hire a doula

🌸 I still have availability for August due dates- DM me today to schedule your free consultation!

Hi, I’m Amanda, and I am a doula and owner of Freedom Birth Co. I am obsessed with birth and obsessed with YOU having the best birth possible!⁣

I’ve had both of my babies at home and they’re now 4 and 16 months old. My first birth was so long and so hard. I wish I had a doula because knowing what I know now, it would have made it so much better. I poured all of my energy into learning about birth and how to make my second labor better because I was scared of doing it again! Everything I studied paid off. The birth of my daughter was freaking awesome and it made me want to share what I learned with all the pregnant mamas out there, so I became a doula! ⁣

Other things I’m passionate about: personal freedoms, natural health, & breastfeeding! ⁣

I’m deeply honored that you’re here and that I get to help shape your birth mindset. Make sure you turn on notifications so you can soak up all the knowledge! ⁣

What do we have in common? Let me know in the comments!

Ahhh!! I’m so excited to introduce… Freedom Birth Co! 🌊
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I was choosing my doula business name, it was important to me that it represents what I stand for, not just something cute and baby related. My dad suggested this name and I was like, yes! This is it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Freedom is woven through every aspect of my life, from serving in the Marine Corps to defend our country and it’s way of life, to birthing my babies outside of the medical system, and raising them with autonomy and trust derived from my instincts. I believe that women are free to choose how they birth and free to make every decision on how to raise their babies- regardless of what others think of how she should be living.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tuning into our ancestral knowledge of birthing and raising babies, and standing up for the birth you want is what I’m here to support and guide you through as your doula 🤍

As a doula, I love supporting unmedicated hospital births. These births are statistically uncommon at hospitals, and the hospital staff is not used to seeing them. In fact, some nurses go YEARS before seeing one! ⁣

If an unmedicated hospital birth is your goal, you have to take responsibility for your birth prep. You’re not going to walk into the hospital and be prepared to continue declining things when they tell you your body is failing and you’re in the midst of intense contractions unless you mentally prepare for what your options, your rights, and your autonomy includes. (Unless you’re one of the mamas who almost has her baby on the way to the hospital!)⁣

Childbirth education classes, hiring a doula, and doing the inner work to find your voice and your power are essential to achieving your goal here! ⁣

I want to hear from you! Did you have an unmedicated hospital birth? Did you have to advocate for yourself during your birth?

Is it almost your due date but you think it’s too late for you to hire a doula? ⁣

NOPE- you have time! ⁣

Now offering discounts on July and August due dates- DM me for pricing and packages! ⁣

P.S. I switched from a hospital birth to a homebirth at 32 weeks, so if I can make a giant change in care providers, you can hire a doula a few weeks out!

Homebirth is a safe option for low-risk pregnancies, and has many benefits! Here's 5:⁣

🌊 Increased control: Mama's choice in who attends her birth, not limited to hospital limits, not being told she isn't allowed to do things (walk, move, birth in certain positions, etc).⁣

🌊 Lower rates of medical interventions: Lower rates of interventions being pressured onto mama, which can have significant benefits for the labor process.⁣

🌊 Increased satisfaction: Women who choose homebirth often report greater satisfaction with their birth experience compared to those who give birth in a hospital. Mamas who are listened to and given informed consent have less birth trauma than those who feel their choices were taken away from them. Also, inductions and medical interventions tend to cascade into more and more interventions, which can lead to an unplanned cesarean, which can be highly traumatic if that was not expected.⁣

🌊 Familiar environment: Giving birth at home makes mama feel safe, which decreases anxiety and promotes relaxation- both of which contribute to oxytocin production, which allows labor to progress.⁣

🌊 Sibling Participation: First, hospitals limit visitors and have age restrictions. Second, imagine how impactful it is to have your children witness their siblings being born. What a shift in our cultural fear of birth this would have, especially for our daughters!⁣

07/12/2023

Delayed cord clamping is when the umbilical cord is not clamped and cut immediately after birth, but remains attached to the baby until the cord has stopped pulsating, typically for a few minutes.⁣

Here are some of the benefits of delayed cord clamping:⁣

🌊 Increased iron levels: Delayed cord clamping has been shown to increase the baby's iron levels at birth and in the first few months of life, which can help to prevent anemia and other iron-deficiency related conditions.⁣

🌊 Better cardiovascular stability: Allowing the baby to receive extra blood and oxygen from the placenta through delayed cord clamping can help to improve their cardiovascular stability and reduce the risk of complications such as hypotension or apnea.⁣

🌊 Improved neurodevelopmental outcomes: Some studies have suggested that delayed cord clamping may be associated with improved neurodevelopmental outcomes, such as better cognitive performance and motor function.⁣

🌊 Reduced risk of respiratory distress: Delayed cord clamping has also been associated with a reduced risk of respiratory distress syndrome, which is a common complication in premature babies.⁣

If you want delayed cord clamping, make sure to put it in your birth plan and have your partner or doula remind your provider right after the baby is born!⁣

Masculine energy in the birth space merging with the divine feminine is a beautiful thing to witness. In the moments when a woman is brought to the edge, her partner is the one who can center her, hold her, and love her through the toughest moments of her life. The connection between a mother and father during birth is so powerful and something that women everywhere are so thankful for.

Here’s to all the men who’ve had their hands held so tight they thought they were going to break, and whose arms were shaking from doing hours of hip squeezes. Thank you for raising our babies well 🖤

Are you a father to be and feeling unsure about how to support your wife during birth? DM me today to set up a class where I will teach you exactly how to help her navigate the hardest physical thing she’s ever gone through.

Have you heard of a doula before?⁣

Hey, I’m Amanda and I am a birth and postpartum doula, which means that I am here to support you in achieving the birth of your dreams! ⁣

While doulas are not medically trained, we are birth professionals with extensive knowledge of physiological birth and medical interventions that can occur during childbirth. Doulas do not do anything medical- that is for the OBGYNs, midwives, and nurses to do. ⁣

Instead, we provide the one-on-one physical and emotional support for you throughout your labor! If you’re giving birth in the hospital, you are likely meeting the nurses for the first time, and maybe even the OB as well! The staff may also change shifts during your labor to more new faces. When you hire a doula, you have someone by your side who knows you, your partner, your personalities, your preferences, and your desires and is there to support you from beginning to end.

Message us today to find the right doula for your birth!

Hi, I’m Amanda, owner of Freedom Birth Co🌸

Birth has become a passion (more like obsession?!) of mine over the last few years. It started with exploring my options when I was pregnant with my son, thinking I knew it all, giving birth and realizing I was so underprepared, to having the most redemptive, joyful birth with my daughter. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The time and effort I put into preparing mentally and physically for her birth was so empowering and seeing the results of my work during labor was incredible!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I feel like I have to share my knowledge with the soon-to-be mamas out there. Birth isn’t something to be feared like our society makes us believe. Birth can be freeing, full of laughter, joy, and strength you never knew you had, and awaken a new side of you that is born right alongside your baby. ⁣⁣
