OCD Explained in 60 Seconds: Obsessions vs. Compulsions

🧠 Ever wonder what really separates obsessions from compulsions?
Obsessions are the unwanted thoughts or fears that keep looping in your head — “What if I left the stove on?” 🔁
Compulsions are the actions you take to quiet those thoughts — like checking the stove over and over again. 🔥➡️🚪

In this quick breakdown, I’m showing how the cycle keeps anxiety alive and what real treatment focuses on instead.

💡 Remember: OCD isn’t about being “neat” — it’s about feeling trapped in a mental loop you can’t turn off.

Don’t skip the assessment — it’s the foundation of everything we do as social workers. 🧠 Before you act, you’ve got to understand.

On the exam — and in real life — that means: gather data, explore the problem, then intervene.

Remember: Assessment before Action isn’t just a phrase… it’s a test-saver. 🚨💯

Bipolar I vs Bipolar II — What’s the Real Difference?

In this quick breakdown, we’re cutting through the confusion between Bipolar I and Bipolar II. Both involve mood swings, but the intensity and type of episodes set them apart:

Bipolar I = at least one manic episode (can be severe, even requiring hospitalization).

Bipolar II = hypomania + depression — not full mania, but still disruptive.

🎥 Displacement vs Projection — Know the Difference! 🧠
Ever wonder why someone yells at their partner after a bad day at work? Or accuses others of what they’re actually feeling? That’s displacement and projection in action!

In this quick breakdown, we’re clearing up these two classic defense mechanisms so you never confuse them again:
➡️ Displacement = redirecting emotions to a safer target (mad at boss ➡️ snaps at spouse).
➡️ Projection = attributing your own feelings to someone else (“They’re so angry” when really, you are).

Perfect for and prep — and honestly, for everyday life.
💡 Know the difference, pass the test, and understand people better while you’re at it!
