The Kaweah Health Foundation's inaugural Twinkle & Toast Christmas Tree Auction brought holiday cheer and beautiful Christmas décor to an overflow crowd of more than 250 people on December 12.
Held at The Hyde in Visalia, the event raised funds for 14 Kaweah Health departments, including the Sequoia Regional Cancer Center, Emergency Department, Hospice, and more.
The generous audience helped raise more than $100,000 for projects to directly benefit patients, and many of the winning bidders donated their trees to local families and businesses, making the season even brighter.

Kaweah Health is committed to making care more accessible for our community. As of December 4, Kaweah Health now accepts CareCredit as a payment option across our services.
CareCredit can help patients manage out-of-pocket medical expenses with straightforward financing options. It’s one more way we’re working to support individuals and families in receiving the care they need, when they need it.
If you have questions about using CareCredit for your upcoming visit, please speak to a member of our team.

Learning healthy habits can start with a hop, a skip, and a jump.
Thanks to the CalFresh Healthy Living Grant, Kaweah Health’s Community Outreach team partnered with the Cutler-Orosi Joint Unified School District Early Childhood Education Program and their Parent Advisory Committee to create a brand-new playground stencil project at Golden Valley Pre-K.
In November, more than 20 parents, children, school staff, and Kaweah Health team members came together to paint colorful, movement-based designs across the playground. These stencils brighten the space and get kids moving through fun activities inspired by the CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Children’s Health) curriculum.
From hopping and skipping to galloping, leaping, sliding, and more, each design gives students new ways to build confidence, coordination, and healthy habits during playtime.
Creating safe and active spaces for children takes a community, and we couldn’t have done it without our incredible partners. Thank you!

Today, Kaweah Health practiced a full-scale disaster drill simulating a widespread power outage across Visalia.
Without access to lights, computers, internet, internal communication systems and more, Kaweah Health practiced critical response skills such as evacuating patients safely, using emergency sleds, and maintaining internal and external communications in challenging conditions.
These drills strengthen our ability and preparedness to deliver safe, dignified, and reliable care — no matter the circumstances.
Please note: The patients participating in this drill were student actors from Golden West High School First Responder Academy and Porterville College EMT class.
Thank you to the following community partners for participating in this drill:
American Ambulance of Visalia
Cal State Emergency Services Authority
California Department of Public Health
Central California Emergency
Imperial Ambulance
Life Star Ambulance
RDPH Center for Preparedness and Response
Tulare County Consolidated Ambulance Dispatch
Tulare County Office of Emergency Services
Tulare County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Office
Visalia Fire Department

“He’s going to be an athlete one day.”
When Atlanta Braves pitcher Dylan Lee was born at Kaweah Health, labor and delivery nurse Kim Hofer noticed his large baby footprints were anything but ordinary and predicted he would be an athlete. Three decades later, that moment came full circle when he returned to reunite with Kim, who saw his potential from the very beginning.
From newborn footprints to the pitcher’s mound, greatness starts here. ✨

When a youth is in crisis, getting help shouldn’t feel overwhelming. Our Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit, created in partnership with Tulare County, is open 24/7, year-round, providing a safe, dedicated space for children and teens 17 and under, as well as transitional age youth 18 to 21.
As a stabilization unit, our goal is to help young people regain a sense of safety and control. We offer short-term, intensive care focused on calming the crisis, assessing needs, and connecting families with ongoing support and resources — all in an environment grounded in compassion, love, and hope.
At Kaweah Health, we’re here to guide youths and families through their hardest moments and make sure no one faces a crisis alone.

Now Open: Kaweah Health Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit
Kaweah Health and Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency have collaborated on a Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) which opened today. In 2022, the two health organizations received a California Health Facilities Financing Authority grant of nearly $5 million to establish the facility.
Located near Visalia’s Oval Park, the CSU will provide crisis intervention services for children, 17 and under, and transitional age youth, 18 to 21. Open 24/7, 365 days per year this 12-chair unit will offer crisis evaluation, intervention, stabilization, psychiatric services, and discharge care, serving referrals from the Kaweah Health Emergency Department, other agencies, and walk-ins.
“Mental health is a major issue in Tulare County and children are among the most impacted portions of our population,” said Marc Mertz, Kaweah Health’s Chief Strategy Officer. “These children are typically seen in local emergency departments or must leave the community to seek mental health services. Far too many of them go untreated. This new facility will ensure that our children can get the mental health support they need where they need it.”
“This new Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit will provide immediate, short-term mental health support for children and adolescents in a less restrictive environment, such as an emergency room or hospital.” said Dr. Natalie Bolin, Tulare County Behavioral Health Branch Director.
“The Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit expands our ability to respond to children and families in their most vulnerable moments with clinical excellence, compassion, and integrity.” said Dr. Cory D. Jaques, CSU program director.
