Last night, we gathered for our final Central Texas Chapter meeting of 2025. Where did this year go?!

☑️ Celebrated the season with great food
☑️ Received an update from PAC on their recent conversation with U.S. Representative Pete Sessions and our 2025 fundraising efforts
☑️ Learned more about TruStage (thank you for sponsoring the evening!)
☑️ Heard inspiring updates from our local Children’s Miracle Network hospital, BSW McLane Children's Hospital
☑️ Proudly presented a check for $24,987.75 representing the funds raised at this year’s golf tournament

The nominating committee reported that the current slate of officers were ready and willing to serve another year. With no additional nominations from the floor, we officially elected our 2026 Chapter Officers. Congratulations to JoBetsy, Shelli, Celeste, and Don — we’re excited for what’s ahead under your continued leadership!

And then, to top it all off, we wrapped up the service project we kicked off in September. Our goal was to assemble 100 activity bags for children waiting to see their doctors. Last night… we packed 400. FOUR HUNDRED! 💙 Central Texas credit unions truly show up when it matters.

This recognition is long overdue! The annual golf tournament is a massive lift, and we can’t thank the incredible team at Texell Credit Union enough for making this year’s event such a successful fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network at BSW McLane Children’s Hospital. This is what collaboration and community impact truly look like. ⛳💚

Let's give an extra round of applause to the longest drive winner (both front and back 9 — impressive!) Taylor Grote; closest to the pin on 14, Noah Shannon; and closest to the pin on 2, Steve Lynam (sp?); and our tournament winners, the team of David Sims, Johnny Keefer, Eric Haas, and Danial Dekat.

And, of course, you can't have a golf tournament without golfers. Thank you to all the players who drove from all over the state — Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and more; who braved the frosty morning; who donated to the drone drop and the beat the pro; and who came out to support CMN.

No golf tournament can be successful without an army of organizers, volunteers, and, of course, wonderfully supportive sponsors. Here are just a few shots of just some of those folks. Thank you One and ALL — with a major shout out to the team from Texell CU.

Yesterday, we held our annual fundraiser in support of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. While chilly (ok, downright cold) at the shotgun start, Bear Ridge Golf Club was beautiful. And we cannot thank the staff enough for making our day a special one.

✨ Big thanks to everyone who joined yesterday’s Central Texas Chapter of Credit Unions meeting!

Caroline Willard, President & CEO of Cornerstone League, gave us a fantastic update on the League’s advocacy wins and what’s ahead at the state and federal level.

Galen Burke reminded us our golf tournament is right around the corner. We still need 9 more teams and a few sponsors — especially a hole-in-one sponsor — to make it a success. ⛳ (Pro tip: the tournament benefits Children’s Miracle Network so it’s fun and for a good cause!)

🧸 We also collected toys and activities for the kiddos at BSW McLane Children’s Medical Center. There’s still time to donate! We’ll package everything into go-bags at our December meeting.

Thanks to everyone who showed up, contributed, and is helping us spread the word. We couldn’t do it without you! 👍

In June, our veterans took center stage for our service project. Credit Unions from the Central Texas Chapter gathered donations for the Heart of Texas Veterans One Stop, located in Waco. This organization is dedicated to offering veterans and their families a range of essential services all under one roof.

Representing the Chapter, Lisa Torrez and Cindy Denison from GENCO FCU delivered the supplies. Elmer Speight, Certified MVPN Supervisor, was thrilled to receive the generous donation.

The June meeeting was held last week in Temple. Those in attenance heard from the executive director of Texas Credit Union Association, Jessica Karlsruher, who provided a rundown of the recent and ongoing activities of Cornerstone League's advocacy group. The Service Project benefited the Heart of Texas Veterans One Stop. We thank all who made donations of essential suppies for our veterans—and we thank our veterans for their service! Mary Ann Nickolai reminded the group of the upcoming Golf Tournament, which will be held on November 10.

Please note: our next meeting will in September. Watch your emails for details.
