UCLA Law Mock Trial Association

UCLA Law Mock Trial Association Each team represents either a plaintiff/prosecution or defendant.

Mock Trial is a simulated trial, where teams of four people compete against each other in front of real judges and attorneys, to show off their oral advocacy and court decorum skills. The teams complete all stages of a real trial starting from pre-trial motions (aka motions in limine) and ending with closing statements.

After an undefeated regular season — winning every ballot and setting a tournament record for margin of victory — UCLA earned its trip to Nationals. Three back-to-back rounds on Saturday. A championship round on Sunday.

In the final round, the Bruins didn’t just win — They swept. NTL National Champions. Back-to-back!

Lauren owned the opening. Theodora delivered poised, precise examinations. Ria closed with authority — and earned Best Advocate, marking 16 consecutive NTL Best Advocate wins for UCLA, 16 different advocates🏆

From sunshine to snow, this was Classic UCLA Trial Team: prepared, polished, relentless

A huge thanks to coach Jack Eyers for leading this incredible team to victory💛💙

The Trial Team is BACK! Apologies for the delays, our social chairs were enjoying their time off 😅. Here’s our Fall Recap for all the success our program had at the end of last semester.

(2L) and (2L) traveled to the Big Apple to compete in Fordhams Kelly Competition. Winning over 75% of their ballots, these 2Ls emerged as Quarter Finalists. Congrats!

That SAME weekend, (3L), (3L), (3L), and (3L) were at the All-Star Championship Tournament in San Antonio, Texas. The team fought valiantly, earning a Semi-Finalist finish and walking away with Best Advocate.

Finally, Laniya Davidson (2L), (2L), (3L), and (3L) competed at Loyola’s National Civil Trial Competition. The ladies walked away as Semi-Finalists and Laniya brought home some hardware winning Best Advocate.

What a way for the Bruins to end their Fall Season!!! 🐻 Watch out over the next few weeks as our Winter Season begins 👀

Congratulations to (3L), (3L), (2L), and (2L) for competing at Tournament of Champions this past weekend!!! The competition is of the most difficult tournaments in the country, inviting the 16 best teams to compete based on their performance during the previous season. The team was coached by .rico and Justin Bernstein. Our Bruins enjoyed some fantastic barbecue in Waco, went against some tough competition, and performed flawlessly. Congrats to these talented competitors!

Another week, another stellar showing for our Bruins. Two of our teams shot for the stars this weekend in the preliminary rounds of the All Star Competition — and they didn’t miss ⚾️

🟦 Blue Team: Ambika Nuggihalli (3L), (3L), (3L), and (3L) absolutely blasted off, going 11–1 and taking 1st Place in their division! They’re officially headed to Nations in San Antonio this November.

🟨 Gold: (3L), (2L), (3L), and (3L) shined bright too, landing 2nd Place in their division with a record of 10-2. They’ll battle it out in playoffs next weekend for a shot to join Blue Team under the Texas spotlight 🤠

And the individual stars? They lit up the scoreboard:

🌠 Riley Shapiro — Best Advocate
🌠 Theodora Ciobanu — Best Advocate
🌠 Alex Guadagno — Outstanding Advocate

Congrats to our Bruins for proving once again that when it’s All Stars season… UCLA shines brightest.

Special thanks to Kenny Capesius ‘22, Seth Wacks ‘22, Christian Cotter ‘23, and Taylor Ireland ‘24 for coaching these fantastic competitors!

The Bruins are on a roll!!! Congratulations to (3L), (3L), and (coach) for winning
the 2025 First Chair Competition.

Teams competing in this tournament have two advocates, with each trying one side of the case on their own. Not only did our Bruins emerge as champions, they also won the best advocate award for BOTH sides of the case. Special shoutout to Audrey as this is her second year in a row as the #1 Plaintiff advocate. Great job ladies!!!

Congratulations to (3L), (3L), and .aidan (Coach) for competing in the National Flash Trial Competition this past weekend. These stellar advocates only had one hour to prep their cases. They did this not one, not two—but SIX different times!! The ladies made it to the final round and took home Best Advocate. Way to start the season strong 💪🏼. Thank you to for running a phenomenal tournament!
