We are happy to perform acupuncture on any species, especially polar bears 🐻‍❄️

Bola, a 16 year old Great Pyrenees, presented to us for mobility problems related to severe arthritis that was not responding to conventional therapy 🤕 After just a few sessions, improved nutrition, and prescribed exercises, Bola's mobility and comfort level significantly improved so much that her owner noticed her standing more comfortably on her own, and that her curiosity and independence (common characteristics for Great Pyrenees dogs) had returned 💪

We are so thankful to Jessica Delgado for entrusting us with Bola's care, and for capturing us in action at our most recent session ❤️

Last week in the midst of the holiday crazies, we were called out for a special visit to South Texas. We started acupuncture treatment on a mini horse with a broken femur 🦴 🤕

The mini did so well for her first treatment and appeared to be standing better shortly afterward.

Special thanks to Dr. Thometz at Mesquite Equine Hospital for introducing us and giving us a ride to see the special little girl 🥰 🌿 ☯️

FAQ Acupuncture Part 1:

What is Acupuncture?
-Acupuncture is a treatment modality that involves the placement of fine needles into specific anatomical points in order to promote pain relief, hormone balance, and overall well-being in humans and animals alike ☯️

How does Acupuncture work?
-Traditional Chinese Medicine teaches that individual bodies contain multiple Channels, aka Meridians or Vessels, that carry energy and blood to keep the body in perfect balance. When there is a lack of energy, or a blockage in those Channels, acupuncture can help restore that balance from within 🧘‍♀️ 🌎
Modern science has discovered that the best translation of these Channels include anatomic nervous system and circulatory pathways, along which there are multiple points used for treatment. Each point contains nerve endings, lymphatic and blood vessels, and mast cells, which explain the phenomenon behind acupuncture’s effectiveness.

Who is a candidate for Acupuncture?
-Most animals are great candidates! Whether your animal needs pain relief after an injury or suffering a chronic ailment, acupuncture can be a great solo or adjunct modality for their medical care 🐶 🐴 🐱
