This past week, our team was grateful for the opportunity to attend the National Tribal Health Conference (NTHC) in Arizona, hosted by the National Indian Health Board. This gathering brings together Tribal leaders, health professionals, and advocates to focus on advancing the health and well-being of American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
For our program, which supports Native youth and their mental, emotional, and cultural wellness, this experience was very meaningful. We attended to learn from experts and from the wisdom shared by other Tribes and communities. It was a reminder that our strength comes from working together.

We return home with new knowledge, resources, and inspiration to continue strengthening the services we offer our youth. National Indian Health Board !!!

It’s been a busy month, and a while since we’ve shared a Dakota Word of the Week!
Today’s word is Wóokiya (WOH-oh-kee-yah), meaning helpful.
Helping one another is medicine, and it’s always okay, and important, to ask for help.

This past weekend was Overdose Awareness day, a day to honor the lives lost to overdose, support families and loved ones who carry the weight of grief, and spread awareness about prevention. 💜

As strong advocates for opioid awareness, we believe it’s important to break the stigma, share the facts, and remind others that overdoses are preventable and recovery is possible.

The link below provides great information, it is a overdose prevention kit check it out:

Resin Art Day! ✨🎨
Today in our art and craft class, our students explored the world of resin and created their very own necklaces and they turned out absolutely beautiful! Each piece was unique!

A big thank you to Mrs. Janell Garcia for leading this creative and hands-on project! Her guidance helped students turn their ideas into stunning wearable art.

We love seeing our students express themselves through art!!

In today’s group, we watched the cartoon series “SkyHawk” which is made just for Native youth that helps teach about the dangers of opioids in a way that’s easy to understand. We love using tools that speak to our kids in their voice, because prevention and awareness can start early, in a safe and supportive space.

We’re proud to walk with them every step of the way 💛

Parents, please remember to have your child return their media release forms. This allows us to share and celebrate more of the great activities happening with our students!

We had a solid group of girls for our Tuesday classes!! The girls picked things up quickly and really got into it, it’s always cool seeing them learn and get creative at such a young age. Big thanks to Nicole Provost for teaching the beading class today. The art pieces the girls made came out great and we had a good time all around.
