Compliments based on appearance are not as kind as they may be intended. If someone receives compliments solely on their beauty, their identity and self-esteem may become enveloped in that. What happens when they can't look the same forever, especially with weight changes. Do they lose their identity, do they have low self-worth, low self-esteem, when others seem to only value their beauty?
Here are some great examples of ways you can compliment someone that is not based on beauty alone.
