This Thanksgiving, Connecticut’s healthcare heroes are reminding everyone there’s so much to give thanks for.

Family. Friends. A safe ride home. ♥️

Before the celebration begins, make your plan:
1️⃣ Arrange a rideshare or taxi.
2️⃣ Choose a sober designated driver.
3️⃣ Stay the night if you’ve been drinking.

Because one impaired choice can change lives forever, CT Trauma Centers stand together this holiday to say “Not One More” to impaired driving and keep our roads safe.

Today we’re celebrating our PGY-3 resident, Dr. Monico! ⭐

He presented his poster, “Inpatient Rehabilitation’s Role in Spinal Cavernoma-Induced Paraplegia: A Case Report,” at this year's American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) Annual Assembly.

His work highlights how early, coordinated inpatient rehabilitation can make a difference in functional recovery for people living with rare spinal conditions.

Thank you to Dr. Rosenblum, co-author, for his guidance and support of Dr. Monico throughout this project. We’re so proud of our residents for leading the way in advancing patient care!

A new study from Ga***rd’s Milne Institute for Healthcare Innovation was recently published in the American Journal of Nursing. The study tested continuous video monitoring in Ga***rd’s long-term acute care hospital (LTACHs) and its impact on patient safety and resource utilization.

To do this, high-risk patients were closely monitored while in their room using the AvaSure Guardian®, a mobile one-way video and two-way audio monitoring device. Trained technicians were then able to spot unsafe behaviors, alerting staff in real time when help was needed.

This technology was found to not only reduces patient falls, but also save staff time and hospital resources, creating a safer and more supportive environment for everyone.

Read more below:

New study reveals continuous video monitoring in long-term acute care hospitals reduces patient falls, conserves resources, and enhances safety, delivering significant cost savings and additional benefits.

Ga***rd Specialty Healthcare’s new Interventional Pain Center, a non-opioid, non-surgical option for people living with pain, was recently featured in the Hartford Courant.

Located on our Wallingford campus, the center offers targeted injections, nerve blocks, nerve stimulators, and comprehensive therapy to treat the true source of pain, not just the symptoms. Led by our experts, the program is already making a real difference for patients.

Stories like June’s, a longtime Ga***rd nurse and first responder who has stayed active and out of the operating room thanks to these treatments, show just how life-changing this care can be.

Because this is a new program, we can generally see patients quickly, often within just a few days or weeks, giving our community faster access to the care they need.
