With all of the extremes in the world and having to "pick a side", we have become accustomed to doing the same with our emotions. Do you try to find the "why" to what you are feeling? There doesn't need to be a why... It's OK to JUST be OK!! You don't need to choose or show you are happy or sad/depressed. Defining emotions is good at times, but it is also OK to feel satisfied with where you are at this particular moment, without identifying or labeling. Sometimes, it really is OK to JUST be OK!

New Year, New You

How do you want the next three months, six months, year to be different? Imagine what the new empowered version of yourself can be, what would that look or feel like?
At Heart and Soul Counseling Services, LLC, therapy isn't just about diagnoses or what’s “wrong.” It’s a space for healing, growth, and reclaiming your sense of self, especially if you’ve spent years putting others first, navigating stress, trauma, or feeling disconnected from yourself or your relationships.
I support individuals, children, and couples seeking clarity, growth, and stronger connections within themselves and their relationships.
Many clients want to:
• Build confidence and self-trust
• Strengthen boundaries without guilt
• Improve communication and emotional connection
• Heal from past or relational trauma
• Navigate parenting stress, life transitions, or relationship crossroads
• Reconnect with goals, identity, and purpose

My approach is compassionate and collaborative, honoring the mind-body connection and your lived experiences. Therapy here is not about fixing you, it’s about supporting you as you grow into a more empowered, grounded, and authentic version of yourself.
Whether you’re an individual, a parent feeling overwhelmed, or a couple longing for deeper connection, you don’t have to navigate this alone. Please reach out for support and guidance through whatever your journey is at 603-456-8053.

Tips on Navigating the Anxiety of the New School Year:
Expect anxiety, be patient and kind!

-Starting slowly and taking small steps towards the larger goal helps adjust better and quicker. Going to bed earlier by just a few minutes each night, over the next few weeks, is a great actionable goal vs a quick transition to two hours earlier getting your kids to bed. Another added benefit of starting slow is that it keeps stress levels manageable.
-Anxiety is completely normal, for both your child and you, and can increase over the first couple of weeks. Try to meet the anxiety with kindness. Being prepared and expecting anxiety is the first step in a calmer household and getting back into the school routine. So, try to talk calmly and kindly, because you can’t just force anxiety to go away.
-Ask open-ended questions to measure where your child’s anxiety level is. For younger kids, creativity, such as drawing, is a helpful tool for them to communicate their worries and concerns. Again, show yourself kindness during this transition too, to maintain lower stress and better mental health outcomes. Incorporating self-compassion in the transition to school helps with being ok with a forgotten snack or late bedtime. Go slow, be kind, and expect it to be a little clunky. Kids look to parents to feel safe and regulated, so the calmer and kinder you are about the stress of the new school year, the better your child will manage as well.

If you or your child need more support, guidance, or tools to manage anxiety or other concerns, please reach out for availability by either calling 603-456-8053 or email me at traceyingram@ticounselingservices.com

Happy 4th of July! Enjoy the great weather and celebrations with family and friends. Please also have a safe 4th and remember when preparing to set off your own fireworks, to be aware and courteous of how it may affect others around you. Fireworks can be scary, triggering, and increase anxiety for young children (especially with sensory sensitivity and already struggling with anxiety), animals, and individuals living with PTSD, especially those who have experienced:

-Combat or military trauma
-Gun violence or community violence
-Natural disasters
-Sudden loud noise-related trauma (e.g., car accidents, explosions, abuse)

These triggers can lead to:

-Flashbacks or intrusive memories
-Hypervigilance and startle responses
-Anxiety or panic attacks
-Difficulty sleeping due to unexpected late-night noise

Also, fireworks can be a night where many dogs will run away from their home, due to the fear of the noises. Below are some tips for those who want to let neighbors know, so they can be prepared, tips on how to prepare if you struggle, and tips for dog owners 🇺🇸
