Coughing is obviously a symptom of a cold, but it can also be from dry air and post nasal drip to name a few ideas. There are so many things you can do at home to relieve a cough. Here are a few ideas:
Identify the cause of your cough: if it’s not from a sickness or dry air, maybe you might want to see if you have post-nasal drip or acid reflux from high or low stomach acid. This can be causing an irritating tickle in your throat.
Humidifier: Even if your air doesn’t feel dry, if the humidity drops below 35%, you can have symptoms of dry air including dry skin, hair, runny nose, and cough. A Humidifier is a quick fix.
Try Salt Therapy: the benefits of halotherapy (salt therapy) include relieving allergies, reduces inflammation, may help to clear out sinuses. You can gargle with salt water, or go to a salt therapy room.
Honey: An age old remedy, honey is a great way to sooth coughs and sore throats. Add it to tea, warm water, or take a quick spoonful.
Use Herbs: There are several herbs that promote lung health. They are safe and relatively easy to find, and all you have to do is a make a tea out of them:
--Mullein
--Goldenrod
--Plantain
--Nettle
