I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Olivia is doing well. She enjoys art, cooking classes and bowling each week. She finished up volleyball and after Christmas vacation she will again play Basketball for Pilgrim High School. She my warrior that continues to fight. She has days that her body is exhausted and needs extra rest. And I feel there are 2 factors that play a great part of somedays being exhausted. She up early during the weekdays, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday’s she has all her activities. Plus she a teenager that likes her sleep like all the rest! Lol Olivia just turned 17 on November 20th Olivia was being seen with a psychiatrist here in Rhode Island that has now left the practice and I’ve been told that really no one feels comfortable taking on her care due to no one knows not much about DEAF1. This makes me angry due to I feel some doctor needs to start from somewhere! Not just for Olivia but other children that I believe have DEAF1 but haven’t been diagnosed with it yet. With that being said Olivia still remains the only child in Rhode Island with DEAF1. I will continue to push Olivia as far as she allows me until she has had enough. Keeping her going and busy is what will make her continue to fight. There is no giving up!! Olivia calls the shots!!! Thank you all for following her journey and for the love and support that you all give. It’s the simple things in life that make Olivia who she is! 18IN9COUNTRYS DEAF1NEEDSAWARENESS💜
