Starzz Entertainment's Proud To Be An American

Starzz Entertainment's Proud To Be An American Page Dedicated to Starzz Entertainment's Annual Event, Proud To Be An American, held in May each year. Net proceeds benefit PVAMC Voluntary Service.

In May, 2013 a small group of Citizens gathered to host an event to benefit the men and women, who selflessly, defend our country and freedom. The first Proud To Be An American Fundraiser was a dinner and entertainment show which over 175 people attended. We raised $6,000. In January, 2014 we joined forces again and began planning an event that would take place in May. This event also offered dinner, with entertainment, dancing and raffles, we hosted 280 people and raised $10,000. In 2015, our event featuring various entertainment, dinner and raffles hosted 150 people and raised $7,000 for the Veterans seeking services at the Providence VA Medical Center's Voluntary Service Program. We continue to host this event each year with our goal being to honor our Veterans and raise much needed funds for a program that helps Veterans in need obtain their goals.

ALERT!!!

Statewide Overweight Enforcement on
Restricted Bridges

A joint, statewide weight enforcement initiative targeting overweight trucks crossing bridges is being carried out by RIDOT and the RI State Police Commercial Enforcement Unit.

Trucks and companies that hold single-load and annual weight permits - both blanket and divisible load in particular - should be aware that not all weight-restricted bridges in Rhode Island are posted with a sign. Only those bridges restricted below the legal weight of 80,000 pounds are posted

The federal allowable and legal GVWR limit remains at 80,000 pounds. Vehicles operating in excess of this ARE NOT 'legal weight' vehicles and it is the responsibility of the permit holder to determine those routes throughout the state that are permissible. Permit holders must consult the corresponding link on this page to determine which bridges are weight-restricted to their vehicles.

Operating an overweight permitted vehicle is a paid privilege in the State of Rhode Island. Accordingly, RITA supports this enforcement which is aimed at rooting out rogue violators who tarnish our industry's reputation. We will work closely with both RIDOT and the RISP to inform and educate our members on this matter, while at the same time remain vigilant over enforcement tactics, methodology and overall infrastructure issues to include construction, maintenance, and deployment of technology.

Finally, we encourage all members to require all drivers and dispatch personnel to link below to the 'Permit Driver Certification Class' provided by RIDOT for the critical purpose of becoming familiar with required knowledge, duties and responsibilities of permit holders.
