Kayla's Hope - It's OKAY to not be OKAY

Kayla's Hope - It's OKAY to not be OKAY This foundation was formed to bring awareness and raise funding for Mental Illness in our community. That It’s OKAY to not be OKAY.

Kayla’s Hope Foundation was created by Hans, Ruthie and Hannah Lehmann of Saint Charles, IL in loving memory of their beautiful daughter and sister, Kayla Brooke Lehmann (April 5, 2003- April 7, 2018). The Foundation has been established to provide financial support to mental health organizations as well as scholarships to graduating high school seniors with a passion for music and literature. The Foundation’s goal is to get rid of the stigma associated with Mental Illness. Opening up and sharing our stories of how we have all been affected by mental illness whether it be in your families, friends or even yourself, allows others to feel more comfortable in sharing what they may be going through.

Kayla’s Hope Foundation was founded in 2018 by the Lehmann family in memory of their daughter and sister, Kayla Brooke Lehmann. Our Mission is to help people feel comfortable speaking about their mental health and assisting those struggling, offering hope to those who need it most. It’s OKAY not to be OKAY, BUT it is important to seek help and feel comfortable doing so. Since its inception, Kayla’s Hope has granted nearly $225,000 to those organizations offering counseling & mental illness support, and given $46,000 in college scholarships within Kane County (Kaylashope.org)

💙 Partner Spotlight: Kayla’s Hope asks Nora, muralist of the Kayla's Hope Mural at Rt. 31 & Main St in St. Charles “ You did a mural in 2019 for Kayla's Hope and rejoined our mental health mission again in 2025. Has your perspective on mental health changed or grown in the past 6 years?"
My perspective, or better yet, understanding of mental health has grown very much. While people of all ages and walks of life have dealt with mental health issues forever, I like to believe it is becoming more common to speak out about such things and bring more awareness by destroying a stigma.
