Reclaiming my practice of late with lots of restorative movements — only to discover that seemed to align with this change in season. This time can signify nourishment through warmth, growth, pause, and self-reflection. When you’re used to flowing through things, stillness can feel like stuck

Happy y’all

It’s difficult to be “fully present and connected” these days for me. To be in the moment when do many moments of significance —not all of them benevolent— are around. A walking routes brought me past the SCOTUS building while additional fencing was being erected.

Still…we try to show up for ourselves and our people where we can. Even if it’s hard, awkward, uncomfortable, scary, and sometimes dangerous. It is an act of love to recognize that our liberation is bound to others.

Yet as someone with a larger body, they cannot through their own insurance for the procedure (or any other insurance which is trash and biased against fat people) so they are paying out of pocket. Can I be real and outspoken with you all for a second? I dream of a future where a woman like can have a hearing without abuse. My dream is for Black women to be able to express anger and/or sadness without judgement. I choose to fight for representation, yes, but also for the joy and emotional depth we deserve.

Slide 1: Don’t get me wrong- the nomination of Judge KBJ is a historic moment. But why are we normalizing a Black woman being verbally & emotionally abused by a committee for the public to see? Why are we applauding composure during abuse? Why must Black women suffer to make history?

Slide 2: “She handled herself gracefully amongst the verbal attacks.” “She kept her composure.” …. Why was this necessary in the first place? This isn’t something to applaud. It’s something to interrogate why that was even allowed to happen in the first place.

Slide 3: The resilience you all expect of Black women is outdated. And once we celebrate her confirmation, I hope we also all think about how we can support Black Women that want to lead without trauma involved. That’s true

So much unnecessary hurt around the world today. It’s always a weird feeling when something doesn’t directly affect you or your people physically but you can feel it’s heaviness in the air and then you’re supposed to continue on like the sky isn’t falling…I hope you got to move your productivity goal post today or that you get to rest now.
