Despite the wind and rain, we had a fantastic turn out at last night’s Music for the Mind! Nearly 150 guests joined GUMC’s Dr. Howard J. Federoff and the leadership committee to celebrate our Young Investigators’ promising research. Guests were delighted to be joined by the show’s star, E. Faye Butler, and her cast mates for the post-show festivities.

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend! More photos to come.

Friends,

We are excited to share exciting news about groundbreaking Alzheimer’s disease research out of Georgetown University Medical Center!

Described in a study published online yesterday in the journal Nature Medicine, Dr. Howard J. Federoff and his colleagues from six other institutions have discovered and validated a new blood test that can predict with greater than 90 percent accuracy if a healthy person will develop mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's disease within three years. Dr. Federoff is professor of neurology and executive vice president for health sciences at Georgetown University Medical Center, and executive dean of Georgetown University School of Medicine.

Check out CNN’s coverage here: http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/09/health/alzheimers-blood-test/.

To learn more about neurological research at GUMC and to support our young investigators, join us for our Music for the Mind event on April 30, 2014 at Arena Stage.
