'Fit For Life' - NCNW is collaborating with the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) on this project. It is an educational outreach initiative addressing the rising health crisis of childhood and adolescent obesity in the United States. Dr. Dorthy I. Height and Dr. Yvonne Maddox of the NICHD, officially announced the project at the December 2007 national convention. Since that time, NCNW's leadership identified 31 cluster leaders who accompanied Dr. Height and Dr. Thelma T. Daley, V.P. NCNW Board of Directors at the NIH Campus in Bethesda, Maryland to receive training in how to use the curricula developed for NCNW's use across the country. Veronica J. Gray, President Detroit Section & Cluster Leader represented the Detroit Section and State of Michigan.

Cluster leaders, Sections, and volunteers held "Energize Our NCNW Families: Parent Program” which provides parents and caregivers practical research-based information to help families maintain a healthy weight and, “Media-Smart Youth: The Essentials” workshops which teaches young people ages 11 to 13 years how to analyze and understand media messages about nutrition and physical activity so that they can make healthy choices for themselves. As we prepare for Phase II to begin in Fall 2010 we seek volunteers to assist in facilitating workshops throughout the Detroit Metropolitan area.
