As I finish my course on Health Systems Strengthening here at the UniversitätsKlinikum Heidelberg, I wanted to share something. Many of my friends and family are unaware of what is happening with health systems in Texas. Texas had the most hospital closures in the nation and it is becoming a trend in states who chose not to implement . This video illustrates what the future of could be like. Please read the article in my comments section.

It is when fighting breaks out that health-care services are most needed. But it is also then that they are most vulnerable to attack. Click: https://bit.ly/3...

A small waterfront hotel in the Meatpacking District was the location, from 1974 to 1985, of the Anvil, one of the most famous—or infamous—gay s*x clubs in the city. In December 1984, the New York Native, a biweekly newspaper for the gay community, reported that the Anvil was targeted by the City for forced closure as officials issued emergency regulations targeting "homos*xual" places where "high-risk s*xual activities" took place in response to the advent of the AIDS epidemic. The Anvil closed voluntarily on November 9, 1985.

The Anvil was a very popular after-hours bar and disco, run as a private club to thwart the State Liquor Authority. Most patrons arrived at the entrance on 14th Street after 4:00 a.m., and a bouncer strictly controlled who was allowed to enter, with a preference for masculine men; women were prohibited (except for celebrities). The Anvil operated on two levels. On the ground floor was the main bar with go-go boys, a dance floor, and a performance area. In its earlier days, the Anvil became notorious for its s*x exhibitions here, and later there were periodic drag shows and other types of performances. Downstairs was a small bar, a screen showing p**n, and behind that was a large "cave-like" backroom for s*x.

Our Birth

In 2004, our founder was contacted by the New York City Department of Health Agency, Office of Minority Health. The City Agency was looking for someone who had project management experience and a background in health and wellness. This phone call turned our founder into the youngest ever sole contractor for the Department of Health and the Minority Health Project was created; a project that provided health and wellness services through faith-based institutions in New York’s Harlem and Southern Bronx communities. This project lasted for over seven years and grew from one site to 7 sites until then Mayor dismantled the City’s Office of Minority Health. Today, New York City is the only major urban city in the USA without a dedicated minority health office.

MindBody Society (MBS) is a project of La-Ta Projects that grew out of the knowledge and experiences gained from the Minority Health Project. MBS hopes to fill the gap that the city has decided to ignore and push social service agencies that currently are favored by government and philanthropic agencies to push beyond the cookie cutter status quo. The project focuses on the intersectionality and ever evolving landscape of preventative health: community, education, mental, s*xual, physical, nutritional and financial.

About La-Ta Projects:
