I received some great advice yesterday. MC said “do one nice thing for yourself today” (yesterday). Well. I didn’t. Ha! And. Today is a new day. Today is the day.
The Tea I drink has littles sayings on the tag. This one aligned. I GET IT. OK. JEESH.
So - today I will. Not sure what yet - but it will be bad a$$ for sure!
Honor yourself today. Whatever that means to you. I know it sounds kinda cheesy (ok - I’m projecting here) but find a way to do something nice for yourself today. Drink a cup of tea, go for a walk, workout, write a gratitude list. Whatever it is. It doesn’t have to be huge. Just frame it as “I’m doing something nice for myself today.”
Think it
Say it out loud
Imagine it
Do it

And so it begins — Stop #1 on the Virginia Tactical Brain Training Tour: Fairfax, VA.
Over the next two months, VACIT Coalition-sponsored trainings will roll out across 10 locations in Virginia, with one goal in mind: support as many of our Virginia law enforcement professionals as possible.
Because the question still remains — “Who takes care of those who take care of our communities?”
This training was built to answer that.
Prepare before. Perform during. Recover after.
Tools for managing stress and staying regulated in the face of critical incidents.
If you are in VA and want to join a Tactical Brain Training session - drop a comment or DM your location, and I’ll send you the nearest training date.
Big thanks to VACIT Coalition and everyone who came out to our first session. We talked, we ate, we laughed… and of course, we breathed ( ). Not a bad way to kick things off.

Local-ish to Alexandria VA? Come on over this Friday for a conversation about Mindfulness in Education and the First Responder world!
✨Consider donating a stuffed animal for officers to give to children at crime scenes. 🧸
As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, join Alexandria Celebrates Women on Friday, May 17 for an important conversation with Gina Rollo White, the founder and CEO of Mindful Ju**ie, a not-for-profit organization helping First Responders mindfully navigate the chaos of work and life; and Michelle Mitchell, the Director of Partnerships and National Facilitator for Pure Edge Inc., an organization that supports the health and wellness of educators and learners by sharing strategies to reduce stress and improve focus.
The event will take place at The Hub at Canal Center, located at 99 Canal Center in Old Town North. Networking starts at 6:30 p.m.; the program takes place from 7pm to 8:30pm.
The event is free and open to all; participants are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals for the Alexandria Police Foundation; officers give these comfort items to children at crime scenes. To register, visit alexandriacelebrateswomen.com.

Tactical Brain Training is meant to educate, inform, and assist in assessing personal stress. And then educate and inform on possible stress reduction tools (Mindfulness Interventions) with the goal of generating an individualized, personalized stress reduction strategy.
TBT is not a one stop shop to stress management. It's a training, a tool, an access point and a seed planted, to support cultivating a well balanced life.
4 hours flew by. And yes - for those who asked - the TBT curriculum is accredited for in-service hours!

Gina Rollo White, MA Mindfulness Studies, is the founder and director of Mindful Ju**ie Outreach. A mind body teacher, educator, and author of thesis Mindfulness and Law Enforcement, An Effective Approach to Implementing Mindfulness for First Responders, she has spent over fifteen years teaching mind body interventions, with the last four years specifically focused on first responders (law enforcement, correctional, fire, etc.).
Gina has worked with leadership from police departments (Los Angeles, CA; Manhattan Beach, CA; Alexandria, VA), Sheriff’s Departments (Alexandria, VA), fire departments (El Segundo and Manhattan Beach), and special task force detectives (VA), delivering curriculum specifically tailored to those working in high trauma environments. The Criminal Justice Mindfulness Training Curriculum authored by Gina was DCJS approved and has been used as the backbone for all her mindfulness workshops for first responders.
Gina's mission is to empower first responders with mindfulness strategies to be safe, healthy, and emotionally regulated. She teaches first responders tools to deal with stress and trauma, as well as increase compassion and empathy. She teaches first responders how to manage reactions, notice impulses, and work through emotions - on the job and when they go home.
In order for mindfulness to be accessible and sustainable for first responders, it has to meet them where they are. Rather than taking an ‘outside in’ approach and bringing a mindfulness instructor into the department, Mindful Ju**ie works from the inside out. We empower first responders with resources to teach mindfulness in their own departments -- in between calls, at the end of shifts, or whenever the moment arises. This breakthrough approach creates in-house ‘mindfulness aids’ who can support their colleagues in the moment, when these practices are most desperately needed.
The goal: empower first responders with mindfulness strategies to be healthier, safer, and emotionally regulated - both on the job, and at home.
