Cupping therapy also known as Hijāma -which is a derivation of the word ‘Hajm’, the Arabic term for suction, are an adaptation of an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist places special cups on to your skin to create a suction. It is known that certain health problems can be caused by stagnated blood which causes poor energy flow through out your body. The pressure that the cups create draws blood to the affected area, increasing your blood flow overall, which helps in the process of healing.
Dry Cupping- This is a widely used cupping method (and the most popular) whereby a suction stimulation is applied on the body. Dry cupping enhances blood flow to the cupped area which helps improve the process of healing by blood circulation.
Moving (massage) Cupping- This is a specialized technique of cupping that has a deeper effect than traditional hand massage. Moving cupping is ideal for relaxing and loosening muscle tension, improving blood circulation and lymphatic drainage.
This technique allows the practitioner to slide the cups along various restricted areas using organic oils or lotions to increase blood flow and free fascial restrictions. Often times the negative pressure of the cups confuses the body allowing a release much quicker than compressing the tissue with typical massage techniques.
Wet (hijāma) Cupping- This method of cupping, also known as hijāma therapy, blood cupping or blood letting is one of the most practiced and favored amongst those in the Eastern side of the world and early medical practitioners. Wet cupping, involves extracting small amounts of blood and tissue fluids mixed with potentially harmful substances from the body. The treatment process involves the application of cups on various points of the body. A negative pressure (suction) is then created by using a hand pump. This is then followed by applying small, superficial scratches onto the same location point of the body. This is performed by using a small sterile surgical instrument that is disposable. The cups are then re-applied and suction is applied again. The toxic blood is gradually drawn out and then safely disposed.
Wet cupping is ideal for removing stagnated blood, pain, inflammation, detoxification improving blood circulation, boosting your immune system and overall well being.
Wet Cupping Therapy is a fast and efficient way to release the build-up of toxins from the body and a holistic method of healing from acute and chronic conditions. This type of cupping therapy in modern times has proven to provide positive results for most ailments and it is a powerful and natural alternative that many are now opting for.
Fire Cupping- also known as cupping therapy, is a treatment technique that places glass, bamboo, or plastic jars on the skin to enhance circulation, relieve pain, and extract toxins from the body. You may be familiar with fire cupping, or at the very least have heard of it, if you watched the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
The ☾ has a huge impact upon all life forms on Earth including human beings, animals, fish, plants and water bodies, because of its gravitational pull on Earth. Despite it’s relatively small size (a diameter of 2,158.8 mi), a mass one eightieth of the mass of the Earth, and a distance of 238,900 mi away, the moon exerts a tremendous pull effect on our planet.
It causes all fluids to rise at particular times during the monthly lunar cycle. This also includes a change in the human body, therefore, it’s the best recommended time to perform Cupping Therapy!
It all has to do with gravitational pull and the levels of the four fluid humors (black & yellow bile, blood and phlegm) and water inside the human body at certain times of the month.
A way to look at it is, just as the ☾ affects the tide of the ocean, it affects the human body. Amazing, right?!
