Finally deciding to go forward with plans for a week long yoga / wellness retreat specifically for my Trans / NB peeps. 🏳️‍⚧️ This will be in Maryland once a year starting in 2023. Looking at a late October window.

More details to come. 💗

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re doing well. Just finished up leading an early morning alignment-focus slow flow class and feeling the good energy. 💥

Happy to announce that I’ll be starting training in October to further enhance my knowledge base by getting credentialed in ‘Yoga for Traumatic Brain Injury’. More of a cross-discipline involving aspects of neurology, physical rehab, and holistic methodologies. Cool stuff.

Looking forward to sharing more as I get further along in this information exchange. ☺️

I’ve been spending some of my post-surgery recovery time studying yoga for 🙏🏻

An interesting tidbit I picked up was that even though the cerebellum (motor part of the brain) is only 10% of the brain it contains 50% of the neurons. The human body is an incredibly complex piece of machinery and would need that much neural density to operate at full capacity, let alone when there has been catastrophic injury or stroke and you’re attempting to reboot it through the creation of new neural pathways that circumvent compromised brain tissue. is such a perfect discipline for this due to the multifaceted way it integrates thought with action. 💗💗

I’m looking to offer this specialty rehab work within a few weeks time, on top of my regular teaching schedule. 🙂

The human body is weird, doubly so when recovering from a major surgical procedure. All of the dried blood / energy exerted / toxins pushed out as your body works overtime to heal itself. 💗 The doctor said my healing post- is going quite well and I finally had all of the staples removed from my head today. I haven’t been able to exercise much (this has been quite difficult as I’m very physically active) so I’ve been taking walks / practicing yin yoga / using my meditation practice to ground myself and foster healing. 💥 The things we endure to be at peace in our body. 🏳️‍⚧️

PS - It PI**ES me off to no end that Republican politicians are trying to force Trans teens to go through this trauma by denying them bodily autonomy via transition affirming care. If I had the choice I would’ve rather gone through the correct puberty the first time and not endured the expense, pain, and blood involved in correcting my body’s exposure to high levels of testosterone.

Some good news amidst this current wave of awfulness. 🙏🏻

After being poked and prodded all over for my pre-op physical I got the final ’go’ for facial feminization surgery today. I have been working towards this goal for 15 years. To have this life-changing procedure happen during Pride month feels appropriate. To have it happen within a few weeks of my getting the last identity documents corrected feels providential.

Republicans will never be able to stop us from claiming our authentic selves. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Hi again, insta fam. Long time / no post. Hope everyone is doing well. Just catching up a little on my exploits as of late: I recently moved to this lovely venue (much more space, yay) so still settling in. ☺️. * Also, I had a major win and was able to get my birth certificate corrected. 💗
*
I had been fighting a GOP-led state government for years now to make this happen (I was almost one of the plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit filed by back in 2018.
*
After all of the sh*tty attacks against Trans people by the Republicans over the last few years this feels like a major victory. *
I’ve also started training for yoga work for and how to adapt this holistic discipline for this type of extensive rehab work. It is remarkable how adaptive and “plastic” the brain. *
Last but not least, is a little over 5 weeks out for me. 🤞🏻

Y'all, it has been such a long time coming but I'm so very grateful to not need to wear wigs anymore. Everyone's genetics are different but adding to my HRT has been a game-changer. Also, make sure to check out hairstylists and if you ever find yourself in Baltimore and need a blowout / cut / etc.

When my hips are open my lower back will release the stress of the day (I hold a LOT of pressure there). Given how much tension I have been feeling as of late this work is so very appreciated. Wearing my most comfortable sweater also helps me to mentally relax as I ease some of that tension out of my joints and tendons. ☺️☺️
