I hear stories like this all the time! Submit your experiences so we can work through them together at the Convention this July!

Imagine being at a doctor’s office, work, a family gathering or anywhere in public when someone comments on your weight in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable. Perhaps you want to say something to stand up for yourself ... but your mind goes blank. Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever wished for a do-over?

As part of an upcoming workshop "Can I Get a Do-Over?" at the Your Weight Matters National Convention with Robyn Pashby, PhD, we’re gathering real-life scenarios from our community to inspire our conversation and shape ideas that can help us respond to situations like these in ways that make us feel good.

If you've had an experience like this, please share it with us. Feel free to simply tell us what happened, or include what you would have liked to do or say differently. Sharing your scenario will help create a more meaningful and impactful discussion. We will not add names to the scenarios used to maintain anonymity. Email the scenarios to: convention@obesityaction.org

Your voice matters and can help others feel seen, understood and supported.

Next week I am joining some incredible women leaders in my field to have a panel discussion with about my favorite topic. In my experience, medicine has focused on telling people with weight struggles what to do. Far less attention has been paid to whether the conditions exist for them to do it. Whether care feels safe, whether patients feel respected, and whether past experiences with stigma, a feeling of failure, or outright dismissal are being accounted for. We hand people plans in environments that don’t support follow-through. And then we call it nonadherence.

It’s time to start changing the conditions, not just the recommendations.

This talk is for EVERYONE... NOT just healthcare clinicians. It is for YOU. I promise. Registration is completely free, so I hope you will join!
