Here is there story...
3 years ago I was diagnosed with severe PTSD and a moderate brain injury after serving in Afghanastan. Immediately, my wife stepped up to the plate and took the reigns of our house raising our two daughters, taking care of me, working a full time job as a teacher, and working on her doctorate degree. The only thing she expected out of me was to heal and focus on getting better. She is truly my hero for all that she has done. However, I honestly feel like I failed my family during this time. We recently found out that while I was in recovery, the foundation of house was slowly rotting away. I had forgotten to let her know that the humidity control needed to be checked regularly and now we have an extreme case of dry rot. Almost the entire foundation now needs to be replaced or reinforced. My wife has done her best to keep our family together but this was a simple oversight. We have tried to stay financially responsible but several factors have stacked up against us. I received no extra compensation from the military and in fact our income reduced by over $3000.00 a month for three years previous to my retirement this past summer. Once again, my wife stood up and adjusted our living expenses so that I could only worry about recovery and not anything else. This was the final blow to our budget. At this point, we have humps in our floor where the piers are starting to come through and I am worried about my home. I am not able to go back to work yet, although I have made huge recovery efforts and I am not sure what our next steps will be. We need money to hire a structural engineer and then pay for the repairs that need to be done. I am also afraid that we may need to temporarily move out of the house while it is being repaired. Please support my campaign to save my house.
