Right now, so much is happening in the world that is heartbreaking, unsettling, and deeply painful to witness. Even without a personal history of instability or trauma, the sheer magnitude of suffering and uncertainty can feel overwhelming. But if you have experienced relationships where physical or emotional safety was compromisedβwhere volatility, unpredictability, or distorted realities were part of your everyday lifeβcurrent events might be hitting even harder. Particularly if your own history involved people in positions to hurt you taking satisfaction in smug provocations intended to make you become defensive and question your own reality.
You are not overreacting. Your body remembers. Your mind is trying to make sense of the chaos. And it makes perfect sense if youβre feeling anxious, exhausted, or helpless.
So, let this be a reminder:
πΏ You are allowed to feel this deeply. It means you care.
πΏ You donβt have to consume every piece of news to prove that you do.
πΏ You can prioritize your well-being while still holding space for the pain of the world.
When everything feels out of control, come back to what is within your powerβyour breath, your presence, the way you show up for yourself and others. Taking care of yourself isnβt turning away; itβs making sure you have the strength to keep holding on.
If youβre feeling overwhelmed, you are not alone. Be gentle with yourself. Sending love and steadiness to all who need it. π
