CRN: The Science Behind the Supplements
More than 170 million Americans take dietary supplements annually, looking to products such as vitamins, minerals, botanicals, sports nutrition supplements, weight management products, and specialty supplements to help them reach their health and wellness goals.
The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) has represented the dietary supplement and functional food industry since 1973. CRN offers specialized expertise in scientific, legislative, regulatory, and communications disciplines in support of the industry and its consumers.
CRN represents more than 150 companies that manufacture dietary ingredients and/or finished dietary supplement and functional food products, or provide services to suppliers and manufacturers. These companies manufacture popular national brands, as well as store brands marketed by major supermarkets, drug stores, and discount chains. CRN’s member companies are expected to comply with a host of federal and state regulations governing dietary supplements in the areas of manufacturing, marketing, and quality control to ensure consumers have access to safe, beneficial products.
As the dietary supplement industry continues to grow and innovate, CRN seeks to sustain and enhance a climate for its members to responsibly develop, manufacture, and market dietary supplements, functional foods, and nutritional ingredients. Whether it’s working with members of Congress, communicating with FDA or FTC, providing perspective to the media, interacting and collaborating with the scientific, academic, and healthcare communities, or addressing international issues, CRN is the trusted voice of the dietary supplement industry.
