These numbers aren’t abstract—they reflect what it takes to access abortion care in the U.S.

• 50% of RTF patients live at or below the federal poverty level
• Patients travel an average of 275 miles for care
• 65% of patients served identify as Black or Hispanic/Latina, reflecting national demographic trends about abortion access and care

Behind every number is someone navigating cost, distance, and restrictive policies just to access care.

This is the reality—and why rapid, flexible funding matters.

When funding moves directly to clinics, care moves quickly.

Red Tent Fund sends block grants straight to independent abortion clinics so they can support patients in real time.

That means:
• Less administrative burden for patients and clinic staff
• Faster decisions when patients need help most
• Funding directed by people who know their patients best
• Support that adapts to urgent, real-life needs

This is what trust, speed, and dignity in care look like.

In our first full year, Red Tent Fund showed what’s possible when the Jewish community shows up for abortion access:

• 1,412 patients supported
• 41 states and territories reached
• $500,000+ in direct funding to care
• 17 clinic partners
• 57 congregational partners
• $1.25M raised

For a two-year-old organization, these numbers are extraordinary—but the backbone of this work has always been community action.

We’re proud of what’s been accomplished—and even more committed to what comes next.

In the shadow of Yom HaShoah, we honor Gisella Perl—a Jewish gynecologist imprisoned at Auschwitz concentration camp, who used her medical expertise to protect other women under unimaginable conditions.

After the war, she bore witness to what she experienced and rebuilt her life in the United States, returning to care for patients. She later delivered thousands of babies—an act of healing and defiance in the face of profound loss.

Gisella reminds us that chutzpah isn’t one-size-fits-all. It can mean extraordinary, life-saving action—even if that action takes place behind the scenes in life's darkest moments.

Thank you, Gisella. 🤍

We remember. And we carry forward what we’ve learned.

On Yom HaShoah, we honor the lives lost in the Holocaust — and the enduring lesson that dignity, autonomy, and care for one another are non-negotiable.

Jewish tradition calls us to protect life and uphold the humanity of every person. That includes standing against systems that deny care, silence people, or strip away control over their own bodies.

Memory is not passive.
It asks something of us.

Today, we remember — and we recommit to building a world where care is accessible, stigma doesn’t decide outcomes, and everyone can make decisions about their own lives with dignity.

🕯️ May their memory be a blessing.

From $30 to $11,000 — this is what flexible funding looks like.

Every month, our clinic partners use RTF block grants to meet patients exactly where they are, with exactly what they need. February showed just how wide that range can be.

That flexibility doesn’t just fund care — it makes care possible. This month, it supported transportation and even doula services through our micro-pilot.

Because access to care means meeting the full picture of someone’s life.

"I live in a state where abortion remains legal, and I know that families travel here from far away to access care. I recognize the privilege of living in a place where this care is still available, and I am painfully aware that many people do not have that privilege. Supporting the Red Tent Fund is one way I can help ensure that access to safe abortion is not determined by geography or income. Everyone deserves to receive medical care safely—and with dignity.

As a genetic counselor, I witness firsthand the complex and often heartbreaking situations that lead some individuals and families to consider termination. These decisions are never simple, and they often come during moments of profound grief and uncertainty. If we can remove the burden of financial stress from those moments, it is truly a blessing." — Janette Z. Lawrence, MS, LCGC
