I'll be out in Richmond, VA this Saturday, November 15th from 12 noon - 4 pm with my brotha, Solo Sana, sharing traditional Malian drumming, dancing, and culture workshops. I'll also have a few herbal products that can be useful for alleviating inflammation, for improving energy, and some pure therapeutic-grade essential oils! Come thru if you're in the area. Thank you to Elegba Folklore Society and Ezibu Muntu for hosting us! Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

✨Umoja: Two Paths, One Purpose ✨

As we prepare for Kwanzaa 2025, we set the tone with the first and most powerful principle — Umoja (Unity). In this spirit of connection and collective healing, Ezibu Muntu and the Elegba Folklore Society come together to honor our shared purpose through drum, dance, and culture.

On November 15th, we gather to celebrate “The Power of We.” This collaboration isn’t just an event — it’s a homecoming, a bridge, and a living example of what unity looks like in motion. Together, we prepare our community for Kwanzaa by embodying its principles now — rooted in intention, guided by spirit, and lifted by tradition and togetherness. ❤️🖤💚

Featuring Souleymane Solo Sana & Docta Yew!
Join us for a day of shared experiences and vibrant connection. The celebration begins with a soul-stirring drum workshop led by Docta Yew, awakening rhythm and spirit. Next, Souleymane Solo Sana will guide us through a cultural lesson, offering wisdom and stories that bridge generations. We’ll close the day in motion with a dance class that embodies our unity, our joy, and the heartbeat of tradition.

Big up to my brotha and Afrikan-Centered Psychologist, Dr. Obari Cartman, who was in town this past weekend to present at the Boris Henson Foundation's mental health conference. He gave an excellent presentation/demo on using African Drumming & HipHop as a cultural therapeutic approach to mental health, and he stopped by Ni Dembaya African Drum & Dance Ensemble's drum class to rock with us for a bit, and gifted a few of us some copies of his book!

Unfortunately, it escaped me to get a picture with him in real time before he left, but I can show the book for now. Hit him up to get you a copy!

Anise seeds have a history of being used as a culinary spice, digestive aid, and as natural support against respiratory ailments such as coughs, colds, asthma, and especially flu viruses.

The seeds can be chewed, tinctured, or brewed into an herbal tea to enjoy its licorice-like flavor - optionally with a touch of grade a maple syrup or raw unfiltered honey if a natural sweetener is desired.

If you are interested in purchasing anise seeds, visit my website, yew360.com or feel free to contact me via DM or text 202-469-0264.
