Research shows women need a girls’ night every 22 days for mental health.
A recent survey of women who attend girls’ nights found that social gatherings with female friends are viewed as essential, not optional, for emotional balance.
On average, respondents said they need a girls’ night every 22 days to feel recharged, with 78% describing these nights as necessary rather than a luxury. Commissioned by Bezel Wines and conducted by Talker Research in August 2025, the study highlights the central role of wine in setting the tone: 88% said wine is their preferred beverage for girls’ nights, and 85% reported opening a bottle within 16 minutes of the first guest’s arrival.
Jane Dunkley emphasized that the value of these gatherings lies less in elaborate planning and more in creating a welcoming space where simple rituals foster connection.
Food and conversation emerged as equally important ingredients.
Sixty-two percent said they would choose a girls’ night over a romantic dinner, underscoring the importance of friendship-based support. Unstructured conversation is preferred by 83% of respondents, with top discussion topics including personal life updates, relationships, and family, far surpassing work drama or celebrity news. Hosting duties are typically informal—about 60% reported having no designated host—and popular activities include watching movies (66%), dancing (55%), and cooking together (45%).
