Stress, worry, sadness, anger and other emotions are all a normal part of life. However, when these feelings run high for extended periods, they can be overwhelming and interfere with a person’s ability to carry out everyday tasks.

Our latest research with Hologic finds that around the world, about four in 10 women experienced worry and stress during a lot of the previous day, three in 10 experienced sadness and one in four experienced anger. These emotions were rising before 2020, but the pandemic exacerbated them — exacting an even bigger toll on women’s health. Furthermore, women are much more likely than men to feel these negative emotions.

Across many key indicators of health, women are no better off today than they were at the height of the pandemic in 2020. Even more alarming: In some cases, women’s health is worse.

For the past three years, Gallup has worked with Hologic to uncover trends about women’s health around the world. This annual survey is the most comprehensive initiative measuring the state of health for 97% of the world’s women and girls aged 15 and older.

In our latest research, we found that most women surveyed say they haven’t been tested for cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure or a sexually transmitted disease or infection in the past 12 months, meaning that billions of women went untested for potentially life-threatening conditions. Preventive care aims to help people avoid illnesses and detect health problems early, ideally before the onset of symptoms. The right test at the right time helps make it possible for women to be treated and live healthier and potentially longer lives.

After over four years of a deep economic crisis, the confidence that Lebanese once had in their financial system is gone. A rare few — just 3% — express faith in their financial institutions or banks.

If the war between Israel and Hamas spills into Lebanon, it could further destabilize a country still struggling from years of economic and political crises.

One in four Israeli adults currently support the existence of an independent Palestinian state, while most (65%) oppose it. This is almost a complete reversal of where they stood on the issue a decade ago, when twice as many Israeli adults supported an independent Palestinian state (61%) as opposed one (30%).

As the Israel-Hamas war continues, Gallup surveys show hopes for a two-state solution and peace are further out of reach, as Israelis experience record-high worry, stress and sadness.
