As you read together, your child is learning new words, hearing how sentences are formed, and practicing listening and comprehension—all while snuggled up with you.

Make storytime more meaningful with interactive questioning, letting children fill-in-the-blank, pointing to words as you read, identifying objects, and using exaggerated facial expressions and hand gestures to help tell the story. Discuss the characters feelings and your emotional response to the story. The more you put in to storytime, the more your child will get out of it!

Through funding provided by the Monroe County Mental Health 708 Board, HNS is able to assist individuals and families in Monroe County with needs related to mental health, developmental disabilities, and intellectual disabilities.

Assistance may include help covering the cost of mental health counseling with the provider of your choice, as well as support for other qualifying needs related to developmental and intellectual disabilities.
