Photos and videos from local cooking class last night on the Blackfeet Reservation. It is one thing to tell someone to go out and harvest wild game, berries, etc. and live life sustainable. It is another thing for them to have the knowledge and skills to be successful. Unfortunately, this basic knowledge is being lost in both the native and non-native cultures; largely overshadowed by processed foods, conveniences and electronics.

The new trend in health is for people wanting grass fed beef (you actually want pasture raised; there is a difference). However even in a perfect scenario beef is nutritionally inferior in virtually every category when compared to wild large game such as deer, sheep, moose, elk, bison, and antelope. Before the huffers come calling, I’m a beef guy largely due to its accessibility but I have to acknowledge that God does it better.

Let’s talk TRT… Here are some airplane view (vague but to the point) notes as I sit getting my truck serviced in Great Falls, MT. I can talk this all day so figured I’d put out an overview on paper and then do video a little later about specifics and answer questions. In short I’m a huge fan for some, but only after everything else has been checked and you have done your part to try naturally to improve symptoms/numbers.

You can keep your fancy protein powders and fast food conveniences. Even for the most extreme workout enthusiast whom believe in the 1 gram per pound of daily protein intake; protein supplements are not needed when consuming a nutrient dense diet. Does that mean I am anti-supplement; No, not at all. I am just suggesting it’s not needed or required with a healthy overall diet.

Many “new” fitness gurus think they have to count macros, micros, do 10 isolation exercises daily at a gym and meal prep in order to just loose weight and get healthy (my advice is not geared towards the body builders or advanced lifters of the world since that is something else entirely) which is honestly not true. It does not have to be fancy and it does not have to be costly to improve one’s health. To any one new to fitness; my advice is always the same; lower your daily carb intake (prefer you to just cut what you normally eat in half and never go back for seconds) and walk 30 minutes EVERYDAY. Start there first; once you have that habit formed, then you can get as fancy as you want. Loosing weight is as simple as exceeding input with output. For most, that’s a good start and pretty good is always pretty good.

Another pro tip; NEVER compare yourself to famous movie stars or fitness influencers; their reality is not yours and is not the standard unless you are one yourself. It is you against you….
